I know that, on a naked bike, the wind blast is supposed to keep the weight off the wrists and palms but, in slow traffic it all gets quite painful after a while. I have seen spacers for sale at about 90 quid but, as they only raise 3/4inch, I'm reluctant to spend my life's savings on them. Do they work? Presumably, if the spacers are being manufactured, someone must be buying them. Anyone having/had the same problem? Shall I just hang from a tree until my arms grow a little longer? What about you Sprint riders, without the wind blast- how are you coping?....and gel grips - would they help? :???:

Chivs-
I put the Genmar risers on my '96 Sprint, and added fatter grips (actually they were the original grips off of my TBS). I made a big difference for me at 6'3". Your milage may vary.

hi chivs
I have a late sprint sport with a touring screen, & I can say that I can ride it for hours and not get any discomfort in the arms & hands,I don't know if it helps being taller I'm 6'4".But as Idahotb said fatter grips would be better. I've had naked bikes But in my opinion you cant beat a bit of screen.
Hope this helps

One of the guys who bought a Sprint back when I bought mine had a set of risers machined from billet. I think that he said he paid around 75 bucks, which is less than 90 quid. If you found a friendly machinist, it might cost less and you'd have a choice of rise based on the thickness of the blank he'd start with.
I've heard that Trophy bars are a bit higher and bolt right on .
In either case you'll probably need to do something about the length of your cables and hydraulic lines as well.

I was considering raising my bars due to trouble with my right hand going numb due to an old injury and the onset of carpal-tunnel syndrome. I put a Throttlemeister on and now I can shake some blood back into my hand without any sudden loss of velocity. Also a pair of cushier grips than stock (Ouries). I may still raise the bars one day, but I'm happy for now.

I put the Gen Mars on my '95 Sprint, and they DO help your hands and wrist - 3/4" makes a biggere difference than you would suspect - if it is a problem for you, i really suggest trying them! The quality/worksmanship are also excellent -

Thanks, everyone - knew I could rely on you. Being 5'10'' my arms are probably a bit shorter than you 6 footers. Also I tend to ride a full tank each time ( about 160 - 180 miles) so I suppose I should expect some aching. Will start with the fatter grips and go from there.

About 8 years ago I installed a tubular bar kit on my Sprint, manufactured by the Storz Company. This is a conversion that allows you to install the tubular bar of your choice. Worked nice but, after 8 years, I decided to go back to the stock set up, just for a change. I'm enjoying the stock set up now, so the Storz could be had for the right coin. Interested? Hummmm??????
