Hi guys as some of you know i am new to the forum and have only had my trident 900 since last monday done approx 400 miles on her this week already and the more i ride the bike the more i enjoy it i feel truly hooked on triumphs already.

Obviously riding it everyday now i have come across a couple of small things that i dont like, The main one being the soft front forks. My question is, Is there anything at all i can do to improve this i beleive its a common problem and wondered if there was an fairly inexpensive way to sort the problem out the forks themselves seem fine but i dont like them when cornering on bumpy surfaces and braking.

Hi, hope you're enjoying the sprint; I've had a couple including the Sprint Sport I have at the moment which has adjustable (not very good) forks. On country roads at speed they'll stop you exploiting the torque of the 900; I replaced mine with White Power springs and sae 5 oil from Jack Lilley and transformed them; unfortunately Triumph use forks priced to a budget and they can be quite crude. For £75 or so it's the best mod for instant results that I know and you might be able to sell the standard one on ebay, cheers, Watty.

That sounds like a nice cheap mod. I will look into that, If i get chance today i will pop down to onyerbike in aylesbury and have a word about it.

I'll second Watty's response - chuck the stock fork springs in favor of an aftermarket pair suited to your weight and riding style and a smile will magically appear on your face. I used Race Tech's on mine, also Race Tech's site has a ton of good info on setting up suspensions.

Race Tech gold valve cartridge emulators and stiffer constant rate springs (the stock springs are not only soft but dual rate. absolutely transformed the handling; like getting a new bike.

I dropped the front end about 1/2" too (raised the forks in the triple clamps), which quickened up the steering.

Forgot to mention, I raised the forks in the clamps by 18mm which I think is about the same as the carb. speed triple. The steering is much quicker but the bike is rock steady at speed, cheers, Watty.
