I just had both front rotors replaced on my '95 Sprint (103K miles) at the local Triumph dealer and they put solid (one piece) rotors on as replacements. When I questioned this, the service manager said he'd had complaints about the floating rotors being "noisy". I'm not sure if it's related but I left the shop and went 3 miles before the front brakes seized up tight. They were so hot the brake fluid was squirting out of the master cylinder. The dealership came and picked up the bike and were "very sorry". The new rotors had turned blue and the service tech agreed that they should be replaced. They had replaced the pads, too.

This is my first dealing with this shop. The previous owner
(my brother) had always taken it to a great dealer downstate in Hyde Park for service.

I am new to this forum and to Triumph ownership and would appreciate any comments.

You MUST have floating rotors on your Sprint because the calipers are a solid mount. That service manager must be on drugs not to know that.

If I were you I would get my money back and never go to that dealer again. Listen to your brother and head downstate to Hyde Park.

By the way, welcome. A 103K Sprint 900, I just love that, how's it run?

Glad you didn't go down, due to the uncontrolled brake lock up that was caused by incompatable components. My '95 Sprint has served me well over the last 23,000 miles, and I look forward to seeing how well it does @ 100,000+. Triumphs are well engineered machines, so don't let the dealerships lack of product knowledge put a sour taste in your mouth! On a side note, I purchased my Triumph new, from a Triumph dealership in the Rochester area. I would be interested in learing which dealership "serviced" your bike....I suspect I know but, in the interest of fair play, I won't ask here. If you should be inclined, I would welcome a private e-mail, though, at "watchem2@netzero.net".
