Hi does anyone know what the problem maybe on my speed triple front end or is it just the nature of these bikes, I get a pattering from the front every time I ride on uneven bumpy or not so smooth road surfaces which is really annoying.I have since changed the front springs for hagon and replaced the fork oil using 10w.I have also replaced the rear shock unit for a hagon and still the bike does this. any advice would be welcome

Did you check the upper and lower steering neck bearings? How 'bout front wheel bearings? Maybe it has something to do with the front tire. Pressure, balance, uneven wear...

I must admit I have grabbed the fork legs from the bottom ,there does not seem to be any play in the bearings , but maybe it could be that, I think I will order some of those spanners and re grease and adjust.Wheel bearings seem ok and the tyres have only covered 1000 miles Michelin Hi sports.

Have you checked the compression damping setting? If it's set too hard the front can bounce up off a sharp bump because the springs can't compress in time.

You can also get this effect if the preload is too soft because your weight will have already compressed the 'soft' part of the progressive spring and the harder part has a more rigid bump response.

Hope this helps.

Steve.

PS. If you haven't moved the compression adjusters for some time they may be seized and are a real b#####d to unseize because the brass is very soft. I had to make new slots in mine before I could move them.
