Just wondering, what happened to the Trident and Trophy? Is Triumph not making them anymore?

Anyone know why?

The Trident was replaced by the speed triple after the Trident was discontinued in 1998..... innovation waits for no man .

Other Motorcycle: Street Triple
Extra Motorcycle: Speed Four
The Sprint model was split into Sprint Executive and Sprint Sport, in 1997 I believe. Exec leaning toward the touring end, sport leaning toward the sporty end. Sprint Sport was also a good way for Triumph to use parts (like suspension components) from the sportier models in the T3 line that were replaced with T595 models (Daytona, Speed Triple).

this is my 1st trummy and its brilliant for long distances.has no problem keeping up with the nippy lil jap 600's up to 140 but it really comes into its own on hills where the torque really kicks in.

The Trident went because not enough people were buying it, pure and simple. The Speed Triple had the edge on performance and the Thunderbird and later the Thunderbird Sport had the edge on styling. The Legend was then introduced as the entry level Triumph. The 750 was never a big seller in any of the formats it was used in - Daytona, Speed Triple or Trident and was probably dropped because it wasn't worth making when so many people preferred the long stroke motor.

The Trophy 900 was dropped once the Sprint ST was established as a good tourer and the Trophy 1200 was dropped last year because it would not meet forthcoming emissions regulations - in the same way as alot of other bikes.
