I have a 96 Triumph Trident Sprint with 55000 miles on the clock. I had a problem 3 months ago with the pads siezing in the front discs so managed eventually to free the pads and sent off the calipers to be freed(as I am am at best an incompetant when it comes to spannering). I also fitted a new set of discs at the time. BUT 3 months on and I have just discovered the left hand pads are firmly stuck again . Has anyone experienced this problem over such a short timescale and is there a cure for me :brk:

If you first remove the retaining pins, then remove the calipers (leaving the hydraulic lines in place), you should be able to remove the pads.

Clean everything with brake cleaner, put it all back together and you should be O.K.

Thanks for the info J98Sprint. I managed to get the caliper off the disc only to find half a pad left which had also separated from the metal backing . When I pumped the lever to make the pistons protrude only 1 emerged so I suspect they have seized which may have contributed to pads breaking up :???: .
Its off to the dealers tomorrow to see if they can sort it out.

Another optoin is eBay and Hyabusa calipers. I've been told that they're a straight bolt-on. Better braking and (at least around me) better parts availability.

Might want to check the workshop thread about parts interchangability first, though.

Let's make sure we understand the situation here. Is it a Trident or a Sprint. Difference is, if it is a Trident, then the Busa calipers won't work with the Trident rotors. If it is a Sprint then the calipers will bolt on with no probs.
