:chug: Check this out for anyone wanting a cheap alternative to the currently available oilers, this is a whooooole lot cheaper, just needs a little ingenuity.
I know the fella who thought this gem up so I'd be glad to pass on any comments.

A small note to add to this. With the injector I tried it got REALLY hot and burned out. I am working on mods for this problem. All surgestions are welcome (except "go out and buy an oiler you tight b'strd :-D )

I suggest you junk the injectors. They work on pulses of electricity maybe around 100s of times a second.
You put a constant flow of electricity which burnt it out.
Instead of fussing to make something that is automatic, I would use the same system you have but put a petcock where the injector is.
It wouldnt be much trouble, it would be easy and very reliable.

I don't know if I need one for my bike. I think all old british bikes leak oil onto the chain.

Andrew.

Well I did do something similar, i used a second fish tank valve up by the oil bottle to act as an on off switch but I amstill interested in making this automatic. If anyone has any sugestions as to what I could get a 12v valve from or even a company that selld them and doesn't want the cost of my bike for it I would be very grateful

Cheers

I remember back in the goode olde days, when I were a lad, my Trident (T-150V) had an automatic chain oiler. It was a little tube that connected to the top of the oil tank, that syphoned off just a dribble of oil from the return line. It adjusted with a little screw that restricted the flow of oil. It always used too much oil, leaving it all over the legs of your jeans, and the legs of your girl, and the rear brake, and the tire. Most T150 owners pinched the line almost, or all the way shut with a pair of vice-grips.

My 36k mile TBS blows a fair bit of oil mist into the air filter box so I've trimmed the air filter drain down and routed the end over the chain. The occasional drip out of the end seems to do the trick.

Sadly, if your T3 hasn't been abused as much as mine you'd be better off buying an oiler.
