Which engine is a easy swap?

My 99 Sprint 885cc needs a engine swap. It has a nasty rattle which ive located to be coming from behind the clutch. Ive done all the alternator drive bolt checks and all there is well. So maybe its the bearing making the noise. So im going for another engine. I will then have a look inside my old one and rebuild it as time allows. Shame as its just been re shimed and it pulls like train. But i can stand the noise no more.
So if i cant find a Sprint engine what one would be a easy swap? Trident, Trophy, Speed triple?
There is a few motors on Ebay but just worried about ending up with extra work/expence.
Any pointers would be great
Matt

Daytona, Speed Triple, Sprint, Trident, and Trophy motors will all, I think, swap right over. Adventurer, Legend, Thunderbird, and TBS are only slightly more involved- you may need to change the linkage to keep one down/five up shifting and you'd want to swap cams to keep your top end power.

Cheers,
-Kit

It's actually debatable whether the Trophy (and Daytona) ever needed an oil cooler, but you wouldn't need one either way- the oil coolers were only fitted to the bikes with full fairings that might interfere with cooling. In other words, the oil cooler goes with the fairing, not the motor. You might need a couple of bolts and crush washers if an oil cooler was previously fitted, but you won't need the cooler itself.

Cheers, HTH,
-Kit

Matt, If the rattle diminishes when you bring the revs up a bit, it may be the dampener springs in the clutch basket, worth the effort to check before an engine swap.

Just bought a spare engine it came out of a trophy that had a oil cooler so i had to buy a linkage pipe that joined the two oil ways under the engine together also needed is 2 oil pipe banjo bolts and 4 copper washers the link pipr is about £15 .
I had to wait a while to get a good motor(hopefully good) i would have prefered a black engine rather than the grey but i was semi satisfied it is a good 26000 mile motor,
watch out there is a few iffy looking one,s out there,
