Parting out Triumph sprint 900 sport
I just lost my pride and joy
I just had a major engine failure and explosion with the rear wheel seizing up and not even pulling the clutch allowed me to free-wheel into the hard shoulder on the M11 a couple of hours back. no warning, nothing, con-rod came through the front of the bottom half of the casing.
can only think oil-pump packed in at this stage.
Hairy and scary but I managed to get into the hard shoulder and am okay.
I have decided to part out the bike so everything is available and almost everything is new on her.
I'll make a list and prices of items so if interested you can message me for anything you are after.

all it needs is another bottom half engine, no other damage, i just don't have the time and saw an 02 sprint st 955i that I like and will use the money towards this.
I would have to buy an engine and get it rebuild back to new as this is the way I am. I have been caught out with no time and need transport ASAP so breaking her is my only option.
I wouldn't trust a second-hand engine, been in the trade too long to know this is a hit or miss option so i wouldn't touch someone elses that as far as i'm concerned has been thrashed and red-linned.

A few things...
First, sorry to hear about your motor packing it in- that just sucks! At least you were able to get to the shoulder, though...
An '02 Sprint will not disappoint. That G2 955i motor is probably my favorite.
If you can, you'll want to save those Alcons for the '02.
Once you have your list, please post it in the Classifieds rather than here in the forum. Feel free to put a link here to the classified ad.
Cheers,
-Kit

Thanks for that, i never thought of the alcons fitting the 02 sprint, now you have given me a dilemma as I've loads of PM's already asking how much for them.

How many miles did you get out of it before it blew?

The engine has only done 21,000 miles, in mint condition (until this happened ), the bike the same amount, although I replaced the entire rear swing-arm, bushes and bearings, new rear wheel bearings, front wheel and top and bottom headset bearings, add to this new seals in the forks, one new insert, and the list goes on.
I only just fitted a new 170/60/17 Michelin Pilot Road 2, 24 miles is all she has done and not even scrubbed the little bits of rubber you get on a new tyre. Never even got the pleasure of running it in.

Sheet, I have 20,000 on my '72 Bonneville and it hasn't been rebuilt yet.
