1996 Triple clip on help
I just picked up a 1996 Speed Triple and was wondering if anyone knew of any options other than the stop clipons. My wrists kill me when riding it. I have seen these http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=231 and thought about giving them a try but wanted to see if anyone knew of any other options.
Here's a pic of the Triple

I put the LSL superbike kit on mine. It came with a new top clamp, brake line and aluminum bar. The set up is very comfortable. I did end up needing a new clutch line. The old one wasn't long enough. I got one for a trident of the same year. Including everything, grips, lines, I spent about $400. I'm at work, so no pictures. If your interested, I can send a pic when I get home.

That'd be great if you could. Do you have a link to the kit?

Spiegler sells the LSL stuff; they probably have some pics on their site.

The best solution is just ride faster. The wind blast will support you:-)
Otherwise, another alternative is Gen-Mar (is available for your bike with universal mount).

JohnD, you might want to be more careful with your research. GenMar's universal risers absolutely will not work any T3 Sport/Touring bikes as shipped in the US; they're designed for standard 1-piece bars, not the clip-ons or cast bars our bikes use. GenMar does make a set of risers for some of them, but only Sprints, Tridents, & Trophies. The GenMar universal kit would work in addition to the LSL kit, but not in place of it.
Cheers,
-Kit

Kgraber,
I could only get a fuzzy picture in the garage light. Like Kit said, I bought mine from Spiegler USA. The kit came with decent instructions which showed the job could be done by re-routing the clutch line. But, I couldn't get it to work without buying the new clutch line. You may need to pull the forks and you will need to be able to drill out the bolts for the ignition switch. Make sure you have a way to do this.
I thought the parts were well made. They also included spacers for where the clip ons are located on the forks. I got the bar ends from Speigler. The aluminum bar has a smaller inside diameter because of the thicker tubing walls. Standard bar ends wouldn't fit.
The kit made a whole different bike. I thought it was well worth it.

The clip ons on your bike are Harris and have a steeper rake than standard. The standard ones are in one of the boxes. Give the standard ones a go.
i believe wild hair accessories also have some options.

British USA there in H-Town might have another set of stock clip-ons. I got a used set from 'em about 5 yrs ago when I was living in Houston. But, despite needing longer line(s), you're going to prefer a more 'standard' riding position for sure
I don't know from where my conversion 'kit' came, but here are a couple of pics as such could be fabricated.
Here is a view of the bottom of the top triple clamp. see where the bolt is tapped.
Congrats on the Speed Triple. Yours has All the right bits!
