Drive sprocket nut

Dear All, can anybody just confirm to me that the drive ie engine sprocket nut is right hand thread ? Ive got a whacking great extension bar on mine, about 5 ft long and with the bike on the deck, back brake on, its still turning the wheel. Next step is borrow a comp/impact wrench BUT it has been suggested by someone that the thread might be left hand.
Thanks in advance,
Andy

I don't recall it being left handed. It DOES have a retainer wrapped around 2 of the opposing flats. Have you pried it back?

I think if you look back about 4 years in this forum, you'll find me asking the same question. It's not left-hand threaded, but probably has been installed by a gorilla with an air wrench. If you're trying to do this alone, it may help to have the bike in gear.

Cheers,
-Kit

Hi.
If the air wrench fails you put steam pipe through the wheel (suitably wraped in gaffa tape top stop marking the wheel or swing arm). They can be vft.
Cheers.
Paul.

Thanks guys, as ever, so right hand it is then, reading other posts I expected it to be tight but this is ridiculous ! Paul I'll maybe have to take your advice re the bar across the newly painted [ sob !] swingarm. I cant get the thing into gear which doesnt help in stopping it turning. Reading other posts and MOTs website, I think the air wrench should shift it though.

Impact wrench makes a mockery of the effort involved without......! Once use you won't do it any other way ;-)

I had the same trouble and never thought it was going to budge. In the end I had the front wheel butted up against a wall with a mate sat on the bike, both brakes on. Get them to literally jump down on the seat as you turn the nut.

An inpact wrench is on my Christmas list.

My efforts to remove the nut failed completely and miserably until I used an electric impact wrench. Easy-peasy.
