Fuel tank sensor wires

Whilst changing the plugs, my beautiful mint (5000 mile) condition '95 Speed Triple shed it's tank in my garage and ripped the fuel sensor wires off right at the brass plug. I presume I need a new brass plug sensor device. Where might I find one and what part number would I reference.

The fall also put big dents and scratches in what looked like (and essentially was) a brand new tank. REALLY PISSED OFF!

Also, when replacing the big brass fuel sensor thingy, is there anything special I need to know?

OUCH....

Be ready for another slap VOX.

Triumph Part Number: 2400070-T0301
cost from Bike Bandit...$124.58

If you want new, might I suggest MADSS.COM email Scott at info@madss.com and ask him to quote you on 2400070-T0301 Scott usually discounts about 15-25% off of BB prices.

If you dont mind used...
Ebay item number 260522285599...1 day 13 hours left. Buy it now price 50 dollars, with a make offer option. I might offer 30 to start and see if he takes it.

Those are the only options I see at the moment. Best of luck.

Ride Safe

Same thing happened to me but the wires were just buggered up, not sheared off. Nothing special about replacing, just screw the old one out and screw the new one in. I think I used some teflon paste or tape to make sure I got a good seal, you certainly don't want fuel weeping out the tank bottom.

Was there teflon tape on the original sensor when you pulled it?

Vox, don't recall. Just wanted to make sure it didn't leak. So far so good!

Dave, you get a slap too. From the MADSS home page:

Quote:
It is with heavy hearts that we must say good-bye to you, our loyal customers. Our parent company has announced its store closing and therefore madss.com will cease to exist. At this point in time we can no longer take any orders on the site. It has been a pleasure serving your motorcycling needs for the past few years! Thank you very much and we wish you the best in the future!
Shame, I heard good things about them.

As far as the Teflon tape goes, be careful applying it and don't wrap more than 3 layers around the threads. If you use it that way, it will help prevent leaks and not cause problems.

Cheers,
-Kit

GASP!

You know how to hurt a guy Kit!

What a shame. I liked doing biz with them and got good service and a good price. I hope Scott lands on his feet.

There was no teflon tape on the original fitting so I opted not to use it.

I'm about 52% sure you made the wrong call there. It's definitely worth following up on.

Cheers,
