Lower footpegs for '97 Sprint 900

Yup - him again.......

Did about 140 miles on the Sprint today, still with the lower Sprint Sport bars on it - I will put the Trident bars on it, just to lift myself up a bit.

The priority has changed though - I really need some more leg room.

Now there's probably some beautifully turned out bits of unobtanium alloy for £300 a side which is going to do everything and more, but is there a reasonably priced solution I can get hold of which'll lower me footpegs an inch or two? clearly it'll need to leave me access to the gear and rear brake pedals without me having to lift my foot off the peg in order to change gear/apply rear brake!

All contributions gratefully received bla bla etc..

cheers - phil

There is a thread here somewhere that covered it but basically - use Trophy mounts and levers. Most mounts do actually have holes already there to lower the pegs but there are some differences in the other bits - the pegs don't have an offset bracket on the trophy, the gear lever is a bit different and the brake rod is longer. I do have some of the said Trophy items that I keep meaning to stick on ebay but as no one has bought me a round tuit yet I haven't done it. I am missing the longer brake rod as I cut mine down when I changed to Daytona bits.

Nobeard is essentially correct, but it's actually even simpler: you just need to move your pegs to the lower position on the mounts. All mounts after '94-'95 should have both holes drilled; there is probably a plastic cap in the unused hole.

The only parts necessary, at least as far as I know, are the pushrod for the rear brake and the threaded rod in the middle of the gearshift linkage. Pushrod is P/N 2020499-T0301 and linkage rod is 2080084-T0301.

Can anybody confirm that it's just the rod in the shifter that needs replacing? Looks like it should work, but I'm not 100% on that.

Cheers,
-Kit

Thanks Kit and Nobeard - I hereby award you both the John Bloor gold star of appreciation and general Triumph anorak-ness!

I fitted Trident handlebars today and it's completely changed my position on the bike - still not sure what I want, but I've got all the bits so will play around.

Just to make sure I have earned my anorak -here are some pics for your perusal -

Trophy gear lever - peg comes straight out from hanger - no dogleg in rod

Daytona - dogleg in rod

Daytona - note peg has an offset bracket

and yes I know it could do with some paint here and there!

I tried the lower pegs on my Daytona 1000 (1991) I have hit a problem though and need some help. T552 http://www.triumphrat.net/t3-sport-t...-today-27.html supplied me with some new brackets I have the brake side on but the Gear change wont go on. The rod is blocked by the side stand bracket.

I have attached pics of how it is on the higher hole. What do i need to get it on the lower peg. The shorter rod leaver is not enough ... hope that makes some sense!

Thanks MOT as usually helpful advice, however i think your peg is on the top hole?
I have been speaking to Trev from Sprint Manufacturing and he thinks the kinked rod isnt for the lower peg. He thiks the lower hole only has the short straight rod.
