D12 Oil Cooler

Hey all. The oil cooler on my 1994 D12 appears to be breaking down around the pipe/tube connections. Flaking/oxidisation with a bit of oil bleeding through. Not much, but perhaps best to replace the cooler. Looking for a used one in good condition. What other models of Triumph used the same. Anyone out there (UK/Europe) who has one, please let me know. Tx,

Not 100% but I believe any of the faired T3's had a cooler fitted and I should imagine all would fit ;-)

Cheers

The D12 is different to the triple in the tubes/connections to the motor. You can see the difference at Bike Bandit in the diag's, and I think maybe in the Haynes. Had to replace mine at rebuild. Cooler itself might be the same, but the oil lines aren't.

There's a cooler for the triples and a cooler for the fours; the one for the fours is wider. Tona94, have you tried replacing the crush washers? Sounds like that might do it for you...

Cheers,
-Kit

Thanks KitNY, I'll do that first but feel that the unit will need to be replaced soonish.

Sure its the cooler itself? The unions on the lines on mine were in poor shape from corrosion, be surprised if the cooler itself suffered much.
You could anneal the washers although they're cheap as chips to swap.

Thanks FC, I'll follow yours and Kit's suggestion. A good clean up and new washers just might be enough to at least show where the oil smear is coming from (if it continues).
