1200 to 900 Alternator drive shaft

Does anyone know if a 1200 trophy alternator drive shaft will fit in a 900 sprint motor? as i know i need the one bolt conversion and have been offered one from a 1200 motor. Its complete and cheap. Triumph quoted me £75.00 plus vat for the conversion shaft/bolt. The 1200 trophy is almost free
Any help would be great
Matt

Being a late sprint are you sure you need a later shaft as the later one,s allready had them fitted. you can usally tell by looking at shaft after takeing alternater off and looking to see if it.s a nut you are looking at (in middle of cush drive ) if it is it,s a latter type .The single bolt conversion has the bolt going throu clutch side to altanator side as the bolt has been known to come loose and it is better for nut to come off that side than to come off and drop into engine.

Hi Paul, Had a nice long chat to Clive. He does stock the shafts but i had already ordered one. He is like me and thinks that is the cause of my rattle. Thanks for giving me his number. He does know his stuff and is not just fishing for work. I will give him a shout if i get stuck. Once again many thanks.

Hi Matt.
Glad to hear you're sorted.
Clive is top of the game with Triumphs, and as you state will give advice freely. Any issues and he is the man!!!
Worth keeping his number easy to hand.
He is often to be found at bike meets like Bury Hill on Sundays. I know he is going to Goodwood breakfast meeting on 2nd May (Anything but the car!!) 99% bikes if you want a morning out. And its free to get in (Goodwood motor circuit)

Cheers.
