In the past three years I have had to fit 4 knobs and 1 new fuel tap on my Sprint Ex.98. I think grit in the petrol is getting past the filter and making the tap stiff to turn. The increased resistance breaks the fragile knobs and eventually the castings on the end of the spindle in the tap which engage with the nylon/plastic valve. I think I need to flush out the sediment in the tank. I would be grateful for help or advice on this.

No advise, but I am experiencing the same problems with the knobs. I have replaced two now. Although I am not having a problem with the valve being hard to turn. I have a friend with a CNC machine. I have been thinking of asking him to make a replacement part out of aluminum for me.

I too have broken a couple of knobs but not from turning. I think that the body work flexes and applies pressure to the "disk" portion of the plastic breaking half of it off. I was thinking that might build a mold and try producing a carbon fiber bit.
