Hello all Triumph fans. My name is Steve and I live in The Richmond, VA area. I have three Hinkley Triumphs and have a question regarding my recently purchased 1995 Super III Daytona. Has anyone installed the stock bars above the triple trees? Is there enough clearing with the fairing and wind screen? Are the stock brake, choke, throttle and clutch lines long enough?

What discussion group is most in tune with this bike?

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Steve

Welcome! Beautiful model, one of my all time favorites. Post some pics when you get a chance. In the meantime, I shoot this post where you can get some answers.

Hi Steve...don't know the exact answer for you but if you drop the forks 5mm at a time till your happy with the quicker turn in and the thing is still nice and stable (probably 10mm max) should give you plenty of room to mount them above the yoke and also ease the stretch of the cables/hoses etc...?

Cheers Mot

Welcome, Steve. I grew up in RVA, and still have lots of friends there.

This is probably the best place to ask about your Super III. Daytona Deliberations would also be appropriate, but I think they're more focused on the injected bikes and your Super III shares a lot more parts with the other T3s than with the newer Daytonas.

Mounting the clip-ons above the yoke shouldn't stretch the cables/hoses too much; I ran Daytona lines on my Trident with stock bars, and they were *just* long enough. By which I mean they were 1-2mm too short, but rotating the master cylinder a couple degrees made them fit.

I'm not sure how tall the clamps are on the Daytona clip-ons, but you should have 28mm of fork tube above the yoke stock on an early Super III. (And 0mm on a later one, so I'm assuming yours is early.) As Mot said, it is possible to pull the tubes up a little bit.

Cheers,
-Kit

I have mounted the bars above the tree's on my S3 since I'm tall (6'5) and control cables don't have a problem. My D1200 has convertibars and they work great also. I also want to take a moment to thank Mot for his help with the S3, got my oberons in and mounted on the bike-no big deal to mount them, just cut the protusion on the bar end a bit and they bolt right up. Still got a couple more things to go and I will be done and post pics. Thanks again Mot!!
