alloy corrosion !

Hi all
can anybody advise ? Im about to have the exhaust hangers and the clutch cover etc powder coated on my Speedy, Ive stripped the paint off the hangers using Nitromors, the problem that I have is that theres a lot of white, powdery aluminium corrosion under the old flakey paint, short of shot or bead blasting, does anyone know of anything that I can remove this corrosion with? the paint stripper seems to remove the least worst of it but the deep stuff can still be seen.
Any tips anyone ?

beed blast

i have the same problem in the past you will need to get them blasted to stand a chance because the corrosion will be deep in the alloy and if you get them powder coated the heating proseces will
draw more to the surface.
I had to get my exhaust hangers stripped and painted twice to get a saturfactory finish .

If your paying to have them coated by a proper coaters they will blast the items to an acceptable standard before coating them anyway....?

Youd think so Mot, but lets take the highly hypothetical situation of someone who works where there is a powder coating line but no shotblast facilities,,,,,,

The stripper will only remove the loose surface white dust. Could seek the advice/services of someone who media blasts engine/bike/scooter parts. Just blasting might be OK on it's own.
But mine were horrible, salt sea air ate them. After blasting I had to fettle them to level the 'eaten' bits with the rest (but am painting mine in 2k, powder should hide a few 'sins')..

Other options, do it by hand with sandpaper, needle files, whatever it takes.
Or one of the acid cleaners like Belgom Alu should remove the fur, though I never got on too well with that stuff.
