Metzler Tyres?
What is the opinion of Metzeler Roadtec Z6 Interact tyre?
I currently have Pirelli Diablo Stradas but they have worn fairly badly with significant scolloping and the handling is not confidence inspiring. I am not getting the grip or feel needed. Our roads here in New Zealand can be quite coarse and narrow and lumpy. I used Metzler ME Z4's on my Thunderbird Sport in Australia and they were good but have been criticised as making the bike heavy and slow to steer (it was a bit). A mate with a Trident says to avoid Pirelli's as they 'fall apart' and go with Metzler.
The Z6 is apparently sportier than the Z4 but is it the best choice?
I, naturally want the best of both worlds. Decent tyre life (8,000 to 10,000 km) and good grip (wet and dry) and affordability. I am not a full on sport rider but if I have confidence in the tyre will have a good go. Currently I don't have the confidence in my tyres to do so.
ps my Trident 900 is putting out 95hp at the rear wheel.

The Z6's are good, the ME880's are great, wet, dry, fast, slow, hot, cold, and they give really good mileage.
Just my 2cents...

I had 2 sets of Z4s on my TBS and this time went over to Michelin Pilot Road 2s.
These are a 2 CT tire and I am more than happy with them, both on the road and even for the occasional track day.
Great wear so far and good traction in both wet and dry.

I have them on about 5000km now and all fine. The back is a bit squared off but thats more my fault because I commute on the bike.
I would say should get another 5000km without to much hassle.
The only reason I might change the back next summer if doing some weekend flying around as it is nice going inito a corner with a bit of lean and a nice rounded tyre.
But all in all can't complain grip is fine in the wet (driving in ireland so greasy roads especially in winter) and hard wearing.
Niall.

Avon Storms are the best tyres I've ever used on my Blackbird which should be a similar weight to yours. Perfect for NZ conditions and I've tried a lot of makes. superb in wet conditions too. If you want to be slightly more sporty, an Avon Storm ST rear in compination with an Avon VP2 Sport front.
Cheers,
Geoff

I have the Metezler Sprotec M3 on my D12 and like them, but have no experience with their other models.
F.Y.I. I was just reading the Jan. issue of "Sport Rider" tonight and there was an article about the Strada being discontinued and replaced with the Pirellli Angel ST. This new model was described as offering better wear and excellent grip - especially in the wet. Maybe Pirelli is to be considered again?

This is good to read. I will also be trying the pilot road II's for my next set of tires. Looking for more mileage along with good sport riding traction...and a better quality "feel". Michelin may have dropped out of MotoGP, but their street tires have proven to be my favorite.
