what oil are you guys running and filters

Hey another newbie here. Just got hold of a 97 sprint with 18k on the clock. Getting ready to go thru and service it. Wondering what oil you guys are running in your bikes the mobil 1 is super high around here as is the triumph filter. I have ran all kinds of oils in alot of diffrent bikes but this is my first triumph triple
thanks

As usual, it's a religious subject. I used to run mine on Mobil-1 15W50 car oil, but if I ever get it back on the road I'll probably go with Rotella T 15W40 dino oil and change it more often.

No offense to Vox T, but AFAIK there is no Rotella 10W40. The Purolator ML16812 cross references to Fram CH6012; between those numbers, you should be able to find the equivalent from any brand. Nobody makes one that's better than any other for this particular filter, at least not that I'm aware of.

The official oil spec from my '96 shop manual is as follows:

"Semi-synthetic 10W40 meeting API/SG"

I know my owner's manual specifically states that the preferred oil is Mobil-1 Racing 4T 15W50, and that any semi- or fully-synthetic 10W40 or something something something is acceptable, but I'm not sure where that particular publication has wandered off to.

Cheers,
-Kit

My apologies it is Shell Rotella T 15/40 that I use in all my bikes.

No apology necessary; I was hoping I was wrong and they had come out with a 10W40 synth...

Cheers,

Amsoil full synthetic, can't remember the exact name but not the HD V twin stuff. And I think right now a cheap Fram filter because the D12 uses the same filter as an EX250, had to change the old lady's bike too at the same time.
My Dad has always praised the Rotella T though.

Just brought a K&n oil filter for my speed triple from triumph on line anyone tried one of these yet ?? i suppose everyone has their own favorite oil so i'll wait & see what's available from the shop when i go to get it. As long as it's quality semi synthetic & the right grade i reckon i should be ok . I believe its running Rock oil semi at the mo .

Running a K&N in the stock box on me Sprint...all is good for the last 5K !!

Got some Fully Synth from Hein Gerike on a deal a few weeks ago ( 8ltr for 23 quid ) and changed it out on the same bike...I could swear it's running better for it..had Shell semi in before.
