clutch bleeding

Hi,I have just replaced the sprag clutch on my 93 daytona 900.After putting everything back together I found I had no pressure at the clutch lever and the clutch will not operate. So I have bled the clutch again and again,I am pretty sure I have no air but still I have very little pressure at the lever and clutch will not work.
Any ideas people?Am I doing something wrong?I have followed the instructions in the Haynes book, length of tube etc.I even used a syringe and pushed the fluid back through and up to the resevoir until I had no bubbles.
Scratching my head!
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,funny you should mention that...when I reinstalled the clutch I put the pushrod in and when I replaced the pressure plate I had to physically push the plate and push rod in another 10mm or so before being able to put the bolts and springs in.Could it be that the rod isn't in far enough?Or by pushing it in could I have damaged any seals or something? Thanks.

So long as it's in it would be fine, I can't think that you would damage anything with it ;-)

try removing clutch cylinder see if push-rod is free that end . When you were work on engine is it pos clutch lever was pushed in takeing cylinder out to far.
when i bleed clutch i remove cylinder put a "g" clamp on it just enough to stop piston moving then bleed i find you can tell if it has a more solid feel than loseing some of it through clutch.

Right, totally stripped the clutch all the way back to the casing just to check I had installed everything.Another job that Mr triumph maded as difficult as possible.Lining up the flywheel and the cog behind is a nightmare.Anyway enough moaning. All apperars to be as it should with the pushrod located all the way in.Still nothing.Tried bleeding again.Nothing.Only enough pressure to let the lever spring out after depressing it but no proper clutch action.Could it be something to do with the master cylinder or slave?
Pretty lost now I have to admit.

Yes, you may have a disfunctional master cylinder.

I'm surprised your not leaking fluid if you have no positive clutch movement after all that....but yeah either master or slave are next to check out....whilst at it clean the lever pivot pin etc they can gum up and screw the action.

Hi MotT3,on looking at your site I think I will check out the slave next.Having had the clutch out twice to check things I am pretty sure that all is correct.I think that the piston in the slave is not operating for some reason and not pushing the pushrod against the clutch?Maybe it is stuck or has air in it?Anyway I will take it off and see if the piston moves when I pump the lever. If not at least I will know it isn't the clutch itself?
Only thing is I don't understand because it was fine before I did anything, can you introduce air to the slave from the clutch side?Or has it "siezed" from being stood, although it has only been about 3 weeks...Thanks for your continuing help though.
