Hi Pigboy,
I checked my factory service manual and it says to "Make note of the sparkplug lead positions in the head before disconnection." How very usefull. Sorry, no help there either I'm afraid.

Here's a thought...
I just had a look at the Daytona ignition schematics on BikeBandit.com and they would indicate that HT 1 goes to plug 1, HT 2 goes to Plug 2 and so on. I don't know if you want to trust that but it may be worth a look.
Also, have you thought of posting this thread on the Daytona Deliberations forum? There may be a better chance of getting a quick answer there.
Good Luck!

Since there are two coils and four plugs, each plug sparks when the pistion comes towards TDC, so called waste spark. The firing order is: 1-3-4-2. Plug 1 and 4 fires at the same time, from the same coil, as does plug 3 and 2. It does not matter if the wire comes from the coil to plug 1 or 4 as long as it is from the correct coil.

According to my manual, firing order for the Daytona 1000 is 1-2-4-3. The plug wires should be numbered 1-2-3-4 left to right, each should plug into the corresponding cylinder. Unfortunately, I am unable to find any reference to confirm or deny which coil goes to which cylinder. The firing order from my book and the firing order Sigurd mentions would both fire 1/4 from one coil and 2/3 from the other, though.
IIRC, on my triple, the wires were different lengths. Maybe that will give you a clue as well?
Cheers,
-Kit

Kit,
you are correct! However, as you say, the end result is the same. Four cylinders are a bit to much for me!

Sigurd, I concur! I like the 1-2-3 firing order on my bike!
Pigboy, sound like you're getting close!
Cheers,

Hi,
This old post may help in understanding why your Google said something different?
http://www.triumphrat.net/t3-sport-t...-fuel-tap.html
Being a 1000/4 model, you would have the "older" version of the petcock? As mentioned in the post, you should find the settings moulded into the petcock body if you remove the outer handle (undo the centre screw). Take a look.
If you want, I can scan the page from my Owners Handbook for you.
Good luck
Geoff
