Daytona Fuel Lines

Well with the engine back in the air box witha K&N filter in the carbs in place my thoughts turn to firing up the engine for the first time in probably 7 years. I have fitted the oil cooler and topped up the oil and bingo the engine turns over. But the fuel lines look a little sad... so my Q is as these are shaped do i need Triumph lines or will a length of non moulded fuel hose work???

Bike is a 1000cc Daytona for those who have forgotten!

Normal fuel line will work BUT getting it to fit over the fuel tap outlets is nearly impossible, I chopped my original fuel line about so I could fit quick release couplings and used the old fuel line in the last bit to the tap ;-)

I think the fuel lines are pretty close to the same shape with all of them; they may not interchange, but they do all have the annoying bend right where they come off the carbs.

The short answer is, a lot of people make 3rd-party fuel hose work and a lot of other people order factory lines to be safe. Sometimes, a spring can be used to keep cheap tubing from flattening where it bends.

I was investigating fuel delivery problems when my motor seized, and going back to factory lines was on my to-do list.

Cheers,
-Kit

I'm not sure what you have/haven't done to prepare your engine to run but I would consider a new thermostat, it might stick closed after 7 years sitting...

Cheers,

Roden

Already done as the head had frozen thought it would be damaged when i got around to changing i noticed that half of it was missing! Temp sensor had a wire wool clean off. I think i will get some rad flush any way as it looked pretty brown in the rad due to no anti freeze.

Fuel lines next though...
