Stock Seat Cover?
Friends:
The stock seat on my 1996 Trident has developed a tear from age (and poor maintenance by the previous owner). I want to recover the seat with the same covering as stock. While it's easy to find aftermarket seat covers for Meriden Triumphs (and most modern Japanese models), I've struck out trying to find a source for an aftermarket seat cover for my stock Trident seat. While I'd prefer to do it myself, I would send it out to someone if DIY is not an option. Again, I want it to look just like stock.
Anyone know where I can get some help?
Scott

1st one is a possibility that I've seen before, but (based on prior bad experience) I hadn't pursued due to the cost of shipping from the UK. Nevertheless, I'll send him a note and inquire about the shipping cost.
The 2nd one is for a pre-Hinckley Triumph Trident.

I'd think most any good automotive upholstery shop would be able to re-cover the seat for you. I looked at mine and the covering is only folded and stapled to the underside of the plastic seat base. Pretty simple. In the tidewater Virginia area we have this guy http://www.geocities.com/rgmaund/Ric...yHomePage.html
who can do you a nice job.

Thanks. But with prices starting at $250+, I may better off sourcing a like new used seat on eBay. Nevertheless, if I search around the web for motorcycle upholsterers, I may find something less expensive.

I normally don't post on the board until I'm sure I do

Sprint Manufacturing in UK, not sure if they'll send to US if not someone in UK may help you out.
I've dealt with them a few times and they're ok

It's just vinyl, nothing special about it. Any fabric store will sell you stuff that will last for a couple years for $3.50/yard, and a good fabric store will have marine-grade vinyl that will last forever for $5-6/yard. 1.5 yards will be plenty. Home Depot/Lowes/whatever will have a staple gun and contact cement. Figure $35 for a heavy-ish duty staple gun and $5 for the contact cement, another dollar for a hobby knife if you don't have one, you're looking at $50 for all hard and soft goods required for the job. It'll take you 5 hours total if you decide it wasn't good enough the first time and do it over.
There are tutorials out there; I know because I used them when re-covering old KZ400/440 seats a couple years back. The KZ440 LTD seat really did want a custom-fitted cover. The KZ400 could've gone either way. The T3s, IMO, really don't have enough going on with seat structure to need anything more than flat vinyl.
Cheers,
-Kit
