Hey all,
This is my first post to the board here but I've been lurking for awhile now. A couple of months ago I picked up a 95 Trident 900 and I've put a few thousands miles on it since and I've noticed a few things that I need to take care of in regards to the bike. I've done some searching on the board and seen some of these covered (somewhat)..

Forks
I weigh about 275 pounds (out of the shower) and the stock springs on my Trident are begging for mercy. Racetech recommended 1.1 springs and I was wondering if that would make the front end a bit too harsh as this bike is about 90% commuting and about %10 weekend fun. I had also thought of installing cartridge emulators at the same time and the springs and some heavier fork oil. Any thoughts?
Another question that I've been thinking of is that is it possible to swap the forks from the same era Speed Triple to the Trident without a lot of hassle? I wouldn't mind doing that since it would give me the fully adjustable forks versus the stock ones if it's not that hard.

Exhaust
The stock pipes are getting a little ragged so I'm looking into replacing them. I want to keep the dual pipe setup because I prefer the looks of it. I've looked at the D&D (Too LOUD), Staintune (Too EXPENSIVE) and the Micron (Like the D&D from reports). I was wondering if you all had any other suggestions? I had thought of going with a set of universals from supertrapp but I'm not sure which ones would be a good application for my Trident (Kerker Performance Series, Megaphone Series, S/C Elite). Any ideas?

Panniers
I have a set of saddlebags on the bike now and I don't really like the fitment that much. What I want is a side of side panniers for the Trident that don't stick out too far and don't interfere with the passenger footpegs that much. I've been to the sprint manufacturing website and poked around. They seem to have a Kappa monorack (£69, Pic 33) for the Trident, is that the one I need or is it only for a top box? They also have just a Rack for (£47, Pic 32) that seems like it might be it. Do I just need to contact them to figure out which one will work?

Windscreens
Has anybody tried the LM1 style fly screen kit (£149, Pic 2) or others for the Trident? Any suggestions?

I'm also looking to a few other small things, like a corbin seat, K&N Filter kit, a Jet kit, LSI superbike handlebars and a few other cosmetic changes.

43 mm forks from an S3 will fit, however you'll still need to up the springs and go with a heavier wt oil - Forks of that era Triumph were notorious in their spongebobness! Crikey, corrosion of the header pipes - jet cote 'em - cheap too. Cans, could be pricey - D+D suck the big ugly for sure but do perform. Remus, Art - still probably do cans, check DemonTweaks.com - check ebay of course - stock systems from any of that era bike will fit, just be aware that rear foot peg heights vary with model and that will frustrate you putting S3 system on lets say, but that can be over come. Panniers and windscreen can't help! :-D

I have just swapped my stock 750 Trident springs for off the shelf progressive springs and oil from Hagon in the UK and it feels like a completely different bike, well worth the 55GBP I paid.

They also do a matching fully adjustable rear shock but I'm afraid the budget doesn't stretch to that but winding the preload up on the rear an extra 2 notches from centre isn't bad.

I weigh in at 13st 2lbs.

Hope that helps

Gragorin -

For my '93 Trident 900:

* Forks are stock, but have heavier springs and braided Stainless Steel cables
* Exhaust is stock - but I would consider a 3 into 1 someday
* Saddlebags - Hepco & Becker 30-liter hard bags - Highly recommended from my perspective
* Windscreen - Small modified sport windshield off a Guzzi

Next, I need a set of new skins - - maybe Bridgestones, Avons, or Pirelli Diablos!

Let's ride!

If soft bags will do, I'm very fond of my Nelson-Rigg SSB-500 Sphere saddlebags…

I also like my Corbin Canyon Dual Sport- (and I'm a 250-pounder myself!)

I've used throw-over panniers for some years but unfortunately they won't fit on my Trident because the Remus Titanium can is angled upwards and therefore comes higher than the stock exhaust. This is a factor worth considering when making "upgrades".

Last week I fitted nonfango panniers and a topbox to my Trident. It took a little hacking as the rack I had was for a Yamaha FZS600 but the additional parts needed were two 2.5" x 3/4" flat plates to attach the topbox frame (These attached to the indicator mounting points) and a lot of hammering of the brackets that run from the pannier frames to the grabrail mounting points.

If you want to know more about this I will get some some photos once I get the camera back in a few weeks.

For me the total cost (using ebay a lot) was £225.00 including delivery on everything. That was the racks, new indicators, 2 40 litre panniers and a 48l Topbox.

Holy Cow! It's another BARFer on RAT! Did you get your Kawi hassles solved?

Anyway, I'm going through the same process on my '98 Sprint with the forks. I'm going to go with Race Tech's recommendations on the stock, non-adjustables.

I'm doing this mostly because I haven't found any source for used adjustables. If I could find the adjustables, I might change my mind, depending on price. Have you had any luck?
