helmet lock ???

So, since the street triple does not have a helmet lock has anyone come up with something or know of anything that might or does work?

I've seen the old license plate helmet lock and the frame bolt on lock and the cable helmet lock (Ducati) but is there anything else out there?

I'm getting tired or carrying my helmet around or asking a buddy to lock my helmet on their bike (if available) or leaving it on the mirrors and worrying about it. Maybe I'm just making a big deal out of nothing.

I don't know of anything else for the Street myself. Maybe someone else will.

A helmet lock is handy for keeping it from getting knocked off the bike and hitting the ground, but not too useful otherwise. On one of my bikes that did have a built-in lock, someone came along and stole the helmet by cutting off the chin strap! (I don't know why they even bothered with that one, though. It was a cheapie.)

I've always thought about that, someone coming along and cutting the helmet strap, but why bother going through the trouble of replacing that strap again ...

I didn't think someone would actually go and do that ...

I didn't think they would either... especially not for a K-Mart special, like that one was. No one could have confused it with an Arai or anything else expensive. There's no accounting for dishonest people, though.

I was just wondering about this very subject today. What about the Helmet Guardian. It looks nice, but will it fit on the license plate bolts.

no tool kit either, but Triumph was nice enough to provide us an allen wrench and a gas tank prop rod hiding on the bottom of our seats

Time to hit Walmart and buy a cheapo kit and add tools to it ... blah ...

If you use bar-end mirrors, kuryaken makes a lock that screws into the mirror stud. There are also a couple of companies that make bar-ends with locks. As for the tool kit, roll your own.

As for the tool kit... how much wrenching are you really going to be able to do on the road side with this bike?

+1. Not much you can do on the roadside. I carry a box end wrench to tighten coolant hoses if need be and one for the case covers. They both fit behind the battery. About all you need. As for the helmet lock... not worth getting. When they cut the strap and take the helmet it's just an act of vandalism.
