Woo Hoo! My bike's at the dealer!

Well, after all the tales of delivery woes, delays to production etc etc, i just thought I'd report that due to a cancellation in front of me, my bike is now at the dealers undergoing prep for delivery! I'll be picking her up on May 10th - Fusion White, with Bellypan, Flyscreen and Smoked visor. I cannot wait! Now debating whether or not to add a set of R&G Crash bungs + of course, I'll have to do some thinking about the best luggage solution! Ah well, happy problems to think about compared to the excruciating waiting!

Cheers chaps, will post pics when I get her. Is there anything I should check upon pick up? e.g., that the rear shock is the upgraded one etc....

Never picked up a brand new bike before so has anyone got any top tips for things to check upon delivery?

The shock WILL be the upgraded one. Still a cheapo IMO, but quite acceptable. Only two things to watch for (or, better yet, to ASK your dealer to watch for): Throttle slack, as there's often too much of it ex-factory, and tightness of the cooling system (hoses and clamps, that is), as there's often not enough of it ex-factory.

These two steps, amongst others, are of course on the factory-mandated, dealer prep check-list. You just want to make sure they have not been overlooked. Right?

ENJOY! Jamie

Congrats on the new bike, you won't be able to sleep from now until it's in your garage!

Snap

Great choice mate, you have gone for the same package as I did. And doesn't it look great? I have just added the 20-30 litre tank bag and set off yesterday with my girlfriend on the back and a tank bag full of shorts and stuff for the beach and she went like a dream. I have had the first 500 mile service and she is a lot smoother now. I will post a pic with the bag on board. Will you be using the bike 2 up?

Yep, I will be now and again. the wife and I did a short 30 mile trip at the weekend. Anyway, here's those pics I promised:

You're right TriumphBoyz - it does look great!

First impressions of the bike:

Throttle – it is very sensitive, and its difficult not to surge forward when going over large bumps.

Ride/suspension – fantastic for our rubbish British roads. The striple seems to strike the perfect ride/handling compromise for road use. Its very flickable into bends and gives you confidence.

Brakes – strong and progressive feeling. Still bedding them in, but they’re gonna be good.

Engine – wow, this motor is so fit, it feels like it just wants to go! Its really frustrating having to keep the engine to 5000rpm as its just getting into its stride when you have to change gear. A top speed of 60mph (limited by the 5000 rpm run-in period) is fine for most roads, but there’s so much untapped potential there that the run-in period is going to be pretty frustrating!

Gearbox & clutch – very nice, snappy gearbox, though I find that the clutch biting point is too long for my taste. Will ask about getting this adjusted when it goes in for the 500 mile service.

Build quality – so far so good. Everything feels tightly constructed and of good quality. The paintwork is deep and lustrous and uniformly finished.

Overall – it’s a gem of a bike, and I can’t wait for the run-in period to be out of the way!
