price gettin nuts
Looking at a black street. They want 9800.00 otd. I think I have talked them down to 9400.00. I just think that its crazy that the bike is 7999.00 and by the time you are done with the deal your'e paying almost 2000.00 more. I cant help but to buy it though. I love the **** thing. I also am aware that the bikes are scarce, especially in black. Prices rumored to be going up as well. Will post picks asap.

I hear ya. I can't even find a black one and I'm debating whether or not to pull the trigger on a white one for $9500 and some change.

Prices getting nuts? The county I had to purchase my bike in has an 8.9% sales tax. Add that to dealer prep, tags and fees, plus a few accessories and you're over $9700 in a hurry. So the price was crazy to begin with. I knew that going in to the deal. I also knew that if I didn't pre-order early last summer I'd be waiting on my bike a long time. It was worth it all IMHO. There's nothing quite like the little Street Triple on the road.

I'd submit that "prices are nuts in the US" because they are TOO LOW, i.e. substantially lower than in Europe, in spite of the tanking $ (minus 18% vis-a-vis the € in a year's time).
Here in Switz, the list price (w/o any accessory) in $ terms is 11'500, incl. 7.6% VAT. On the top of that, there are various charges adding up to $ 270.

May this comparison bring some solace to you. Jamie

They're screwing you. It's worth the drive to someplace else. I ordered my black Striple from Baxter Cycle in Marne Iowa in Feb and paid 7999+500 setup+1600 in accesories 10% off.

I've never been sure what people mean when they say "OTD." For example, here in NYC, the "OTD" price on the numbers above would be approximately $9,400.00 (price + setup + 8.375% sales tax + registration/title fees + tire tax). I think it's much more useful to hear a pre-tax, pre-title & licensing fee price, myself.

Agreed. ***** about the cost if you want, but don't blame the dealer for $$ they don't get (like taxes and tag fees). Now, if the dealer wants to add $2,000 of their own, a different story.

I paid list price and $500 or so for dealer setup, then got a discount on the accessories I ordered. Fair I think for a bike that is in short supply (there are plenty of heavily discounted bikes out there, but not ones I want).

Paid a bunch of tax too, but the state's responsible for that, not the dealer. About $9,500 by the time I was done.

This is going to get worse for people in the US. With the currency exchange rates the way they are, Triumph will have to make a choice:

(a) raise US prices considerably
(b) lose money on US sales
(c) stop bringing bikes to the US, since it seems they can sell all they want in Europe

Ok guys, thx for the replys. Picked up the new bike a few hours ago. I got it for 9100.00 out the door. The bike is a flippin dream. I should say out the door for 9700.00 as it was 9100.00, but he talked me into extending the warranty for another 3 years. I figured it may be a good idea since the bike is so computerized. The dealer AZSB here in Mesa, AZ said they were getting in 2 more black a white and a green within the next month.

Absolutely. "OTD" is probably the most meaningless term there is, given the wide variation in taxes and government mandated fees from area to area. Dealer total before taxes is the only valid way to compare prices. That way you can tell who's gouging you on price itself, delivery, setup and/or documentation fees. The taxes will vary by where you live, not necessarily by where the dealer is located; so you're going to be stuck with those either way, no matter which dealer you choose.
