New Street

Newbie here with a couple of questions. I just got done drooling over a new black street. They said the otd price was 9200.00. Is that a fair price? I was also wondering if this machine can run 87 in the tank. Thanks guys.

I would have to look in the owners maual but I think it requires 89 or higher. It's the same engine as the Daytona 675 but I believe the Daytona is recomended for 93. I've been putting 89 in my Striple. I'll look in my manual and post what it says when I get home from work tonight. I will be surprized if it says 87 though.

Manual states 87. Mine was list + $500 dest. & set-up + xtras. $9200 is high w/o any xtras (unless it may include your local taxes), but Spring has sprung and the availabity is what it is. List is supposedly going up by $300 as of May 1.

I appreciate the respnses guys. I thought 9200 may be a little high, but I also figured the prices were going to be going up. A little thing called supply and demand coupled to a dash of inflation and throw in the weakening dollar.

Yeah the manual says 87 or better for the street, 89 or better for the daytona. I wonder what the reason for that is since the engines are practically the same.

Might want to refer to the octane thread, Stephen. For one thing, there is not nearly so much ignition advance in the Street version. The tune is just enough milder that the engine internals remain a bit cooler and pre-ignition is less likely.

2 cents worth for most continental European readers: That's 95 unleaded or today's equivalent of "regualar". Same as for the Daytona, BTW. And there's no point whatsoever in fillling it up with --more expensive-- 98 "premium" unleaded. Jamie

I was told that the prices are going to jump up another 200 or so in the next couple months because of the value of the dollar with the euro.
If I was in the market, I wouldn't quibble over a few hundred dollars right now, I would go for it.
I've been looking at them, sat on one in the dealer last week and thought it was bloody wonderful, but I'll hang on to my Speed Triple for some time yet.

I spoke with the dealer yesterday (4/8) and he said $300 rise in price on the '08's yet to come in. '09 will probably be higher.
