Rear Hugger Needed?

Looking to see if the Rear Hugger kit is worth the $79(US)? I assume it contains the dirt from the rear tire. If so, how much compared to not having it? I mainly ride to and from work, with occasional weekends.

For those of you who have made the purchase of this kit, would you do it again?

Thanks!

It's worth it!

It's been discussed here in a few other threads. Bascially a bit more coverage would be appreciated byut wopuld spoil the "naked look" so it's a good compromise and much cheaper than a carbon one which would not last as well as the plastic IMO.

The rear spring and pipe is well protected but the silencers aren't protected very well at all.

It doesn't stop rain spray from getting under the bike, although it probably cuts it down. The main thing is that it should stop stones and other debris being thrown onto the shock, etc.

It's not a cure-all, but it does help with the heavier stuff as Spike observes. Visually, I hardly ever notice that the hugger is there. I'd buy it again myself.

The rear hugger, the carbon fiber one, in my case, does deflect road grime away from the rear shock. But it... deflects it... TO THE REAR of the bike. License plate and rear seat cowl (not to mention my jacket back) now get the muddy water spray that used to remain stuck around the rear suspension linkage. Not a "must have" accesory IMO, therefore.

Yep, I do have a tidy. AND you might be bringing up a good point. By bringing the rear plate assembly closer to the tyre, the tidy might actually prevent that dreaded spray from expanding AWAY from the bike. All I know is that neither my rear seat cowl nor my jacket were that messed-up with the original plate bracket.

Best. Jamie

Think I'll be leaving the ugly rear assembly on then

The rear hugger is worth having and yes, the stock tail tidy does keep some of the road spray off of your back. In bad weather you're going to catch a lot of the grime and wet regardless. It's the nature of the beast.
