Rear Hugger Needed?

I use the factory plastic rear hugger as well. In my case, it doesn't keep the rear shock section clean...but helps a bit to make it less dirty than without it. For me it's worth it as I don't mind the look of it and it was easy for me to install.

I think it looks better with the rear hugger fitted especially when you remove the twin exhausts.

This is all very helpful, thanks for all of the responses! I will most likley go with the stock (plastic) product from Triumph, just to help with the dirt in that area. As for how it looks, based on pictures I have seen, it's not that bad.

Sorry to butt in, I was looking at the Carbon rear hugger from carbonuk.net . Any of you seen it? Is it any good? They have an extended version, is it worth it? I'll be getting "Carmen" in November so I want to get some info before I spend up on accessories.

afaik, while the normal one is a carbon copy (hur hur) of the standard street triple hugger, the extended one is a copy of the daytona one

by the look of them anyway

Personally, I'd prefer to go with OEM parts where they exist, and go aftermarket for things triumph dont do themselves

Just a correction on the huggers if I may ! - the standard carbon hugger is an exact copy of the plastic street triple hugger (without the Triumph logo), the extended hugger is ...... an extended version of the same thing ... it is not a Daytona hugger, the Daytona hugger does'nt fit the bike properly. It is a hugger we have designed and made ourselves using the standard hugger as a basis - I personally prefer the standard hugger but a number or people asked me to make a slightly longer one.

The parts we make fit the bike properly because I actually own a Street Triple and everything we make is fitted to my bike (not always all at the same time!).

I totally agree with the comments regarding OEM stuff, it is designed for the bike and is generally better quality than aftermarket products it is also fully tested by the UK DOT (not that that is really necessary for an item such as a hugger) - 100% of the stuff we produce is not made by Triumph which is why we make it - if Triumph made it we would'nt bother to make it - honest !
