Air filters.

Hey guys good to see everyone is still thriving on the striples!!

Just managed to book mine in for its first service, 300kms late i might add though

Has anyone replaced there OEM filter with an after market one? I have the Arrow low boy and re map, and am wondering if there is any benefit in running a more free flowing filter. Im a little reluctant to change from my OEM one incase it runs lean? Dunno. Any thoughts on this?

Ciao

I haven't worked on many bikes yet, but have YEARS of modifying cars under my belt (corvettes, mustangs, 60's muscle cars, imports, etc). I have found that unless your motor (with cars anyway) is HEAVILY modified, far exceeding the factory specs (by say a good 15-20 %), than putting aftermarket aircleaner does NOTHING for performance. The factory designs it's airfilters to flow perfectly adaquite with a stock motor (and then some). Until your motor is starving for air (not likely until heavily modified) it will have zero gain from replacement and you'll be wasting your money. I'd think bike motors are the same, but as I said...not much experience there.

I had the lowboy and remap also, In talking with the tech (who I ride with) he told it would be a waste of money, consider the development between Triumph and Arrow. I think they did a outstanding job. Its a nice balance for how the bike is designed to perform. I'll say it, there's no way I will push the bike to truly do what it is capable of doing.

Cheers for the input, to be honest I didn't think it was of any advantage to the bike to run an after market filter, Arrow would have tuned the exhaust to run with stock filter, otherwise they would have suggested to change filter.

You're better of with the OEM. Besides, there's something about the induction sound that you just don't want to change if you can help it. Between the induction and exhaust note it's a mechanical rock band especially when you hit the 8,000+ RPM mark.
