So that brings us to today. I was out riding and found myself on a stretch of open road, with no one else or any intersections nearby. I decided to see what happened if I gave the throttle a little more twist than usual. There was a burst of acceleration and the bike made some of the most wonderful sounds I have ever heard from an engine. I suddenly had an ear to ear grin and thought to myself, "Now I get it." Then I eased off the throttle and came back down to earth.

It all happened in a 4-5 second time frame, but it seemed much longer. It was an absolute blast and it also scared the hell out of me. I found myself riding around for another 30 minutes looking for a place to try it again. Luckily, I found another open stretch. And again I was rewarded with that wonderful sound. But the feeling was even better.

In my original post I asked, "How do I concentrate on work when I can't think of anything but getting back on my striple?" Now that question is even harder to answer, because I have officially caught the bug or whatever it is that makes people love riding so much. Right now, this is me ->

Welcome...been waiting on you.

some very good advice posted...my striple is my first bike and I have to realise that after 1500miles /6 months I am entering the DANGER ZONE...its hard not to get ahead of yourself ....try to be a bit critical of yourself on the early rides...was your line through all the corners just how you wanted it , did you have 100 per cent smooth throttle control, did you spot all the hazards on your ride etc etc ...slowly extend yourself step by step . You are quite right that the run in gives you an in built safe (safer!!) period but dont rush to thrash the bike once that is over (it wont take long ) ....You dont have to use all the power just cos its there ! the one newbie mistake I did make some months back was to not let the tyres warm up before I gave it a bit of right hand ....went wider through a corner than I wanted to and if had been unlucky that would have been it ...it was a 50mph corner normally , I took it at 40mph with cold tyres...I wont EVER do that again......I suggest you experiment with how long it takes the tyres to get warm to the touch

Keep enjoying your lovely bike ..it has lots more fun in store ...( wait till you take it to the rev limit in second , third ect ha ha ) Good luck
