From the short teaser vid it looks like it will have all the electronic goodies, looking forward to find out more about engine: capacity, output etc, given the Euro 4 compliance.

I have to say though, I find it a little odd they are launching the 2018 model in Jan 2017' the 2017 Street Triple is the old bike; maybe the renamed it and they will have both bikes on the floor for at least the 2017?

Thanks for the 'heads up'. Will be interesting to see if they come through with different 'versions'…….touring, etc……based on the survey results I recall seeing a year or more ago. [Triumph: please stop for a bit…I have a Street Scram on order and cannot afford yet another 'distraction' :)

I think that's going to depend on whether you have a pre-2012 model or not. The 675 is one of the best engines put into a moto frame, period, and I suspect the older-styled STR's are going to become collector items due to their more classic look. Or perhaps it's just wishful thinking, since I have one and am a bit impartial...:)

I'm pretty sure I'm selling mine come next August/September. Which will be 1 year owning it. Already looking at the Ducati Multistrada 1200S Touring as my next bike.

Will have a Remus Hypercone, SW-Motech Blaze bags, Engine and frame protection kits, Fly screen, Belly Pan, and RAM iPhone 6/7 plus mount.

By then I know I'll want something a bit bigger for 2-up touring.

do i sound "old-fashioned" if i say that i do want it to be the same (will never be the same)???? or at least pretty much the same? I mean i love the round headlights the simple and industrial design and yet the new technologies. Can they do that or do we have to pay 1600 for a conversion???? https://motodemic.com/shop/dual-round-headlight-conversion/ .... I loved the triple speed and street for being what it is (or actually was). Hope i could change their minds!

Love all these sweet naked bikes coming out in the next year or two.

If the first reveal is coming in January, then I doubt it will hit dealerships for several more months.

An R version with Ohlins, Brembo, full TC, and a partial fairing would be right up my alley, but I would never buy a new bike right after it's released. Besides, I wouldn't mind trying something different next like a KTM (did someone say "790"?).

Totally understandable. If I got a Triple, that would be the first thing I did. The dual round headlights were kinda of OK, but the dual oblong things look silly to me and really throw off the bike's great lines. Anyway, I have a feeling this is going to be a very nice bike. Can't wait to see the reveal.

Wait, is it definitely going to be an 800? Just curious. Not that it needs it. The 675 engine was/in the most fun and all-around engine I have ever owned/ridden. Obviously an 800 would be cool too.

Also, yeah, looks like the tach climbs on both sides of the cool display. Sorta weird I guess... Wonder if it will be similar to the new R1's display, where you can sorta choose slightly different display options/themes... Also, looks like it has an ambient temperature gauge. Nice.

I bet it ends up being the coolest looking middle-weight urban sportbike so far... As long as it leans more towards the 'urban' side of the spectrum, rather than the 'Transformer' side of the spectrum. (I was never crazy about how they went bOnKeRs with the giant plastic Nike swoosh side rad-cowls. They are like a pubic hair from being the same size as a D675 fairing! Why not at least offer a cool minimal metal side of the rad cover like they did on the '10 Speed Triples and such?) #Sportbikes in disguise

The information I last remember seeing was that the displacement will be around 765. I guess that's close enough to call it an 800, but since they never called the 675 a 700, I'm will to bet anyone a whole U.S. dollar, it's going to be 765. If the display is changeable, I'd want to be able to change the rev counter to display a facsimile of an analog tachometer.

I didn't get an email from my local dealer, so I emailed them to see if they are having an event to coincide with the release, or maybe at a later date. I didn't go to the one for the Bonneville last year, and since seeing the cool - and apparently not otherwise available - hat they gave away at that one, I don't want to miss this one.

I'm genuinely excited about this release! A couple months ago I traded my '13 Street R for a '16 Speed R and if this bike fills the awful big shoes that the internet has given it, the Speed may be up for sale come spring.

I was so excited to see the email this morning. I've tried freezing frames to see what details I can garner - I only came up with the dual sided digital tacho too.

My hope is that whatever this is (Street Triple 765??), that it is as good as Yamaha's XSR900. I was given one for the day when my Tiger 800 had her last service. If that thing had a Triumph badge, I'd have bought it!
I wonder if my wife will notice if her Monster 695 suddenly looks very "Triumph-ish" :D. Man, I was going to slyly get a Bobber, but this changes everything!

Are there any rumours on whether the Daytona is undergoing the same changes?

If they want to keep it a 600 class racer (a big if for Triumph,a s they seemed to have abandoned the idea) then Daytona will have to stay 675. I personally do not see the benefits of a fully faired super sport for urban use (which a bigger engine will relegate the bike for)- a naked is a lot better fit for that use in my opinion.

I really am excited though I am not in market and plan on rolling with '13 Street Triple R for the foreseeable future. But it is good to see that they will be evolving the model and competing; with the Euro spec now and given what the competition is doing it is time for this to happen. I just love to see new stuff and Triumph is on a tear with new models. Go Triumph!!

I don't see myself ever unloading my '13, but I'm excited about the new Street, because I want to go the event and get some swag. Does that make me a bad person?

I also wouldn't mind seeing Triumph firmly shut the pie wholes of all the Yammie XX-09 people.

FWIW - I went to see the new Bonnevilles (got the beanie ; -) and decided to not ask for my deposit back - While I truly miss my Street Triple, the Thruxton R is also an exciting bike with styling those in my age group probably lusted mightily for.

It is exciting to see triumph updating a current model but tbh I thought the 675 was already a best of class bike as is? If this is an attempt by triumph to drop both the 675 and 1050 and they get it right, sweet. Most group runs I go on are cruisers, 75% hd 20% metric cruisers 5% everything else.
The local Import dealer has monthly runs and their rides are a much more diverse group but while there's nearly no cruisers on those runs there's still very few triumph nakeds. THIS IS A TRIUMPH DEALER, mostly ducatis, metric sportbikes and modern classics. From where I ride it would be smart business for triumph to merge the two into 1 model, unless they have the resources to put each model back in the conversation why carry 3 engine displacements for 1 model bike that collects dust? While I have no use for triumphs marketing department I think they have some great engineers that can build anything triumph corporate lets them (going by the quality of current machines) so i'm more excited about this new bike than I was about the 1050.

The Euro 4 emissions mandates that are going into effect are what is driving the new Street - and just about every recent update (the Triumph water-cooled twins, too) by every manufacturer. It's been said before, but just to remind, the emissions standards will further strangle engines, so the only practical way to have a Euro 4 compliant bike perform at least as good as it's current model is to bump the displacement. Engine and specific output-wise, the new Street will not be so much of a revolution as a minor evolution. The story is different when it comes to electronics and rider aids, though.

My local dealer in addition to Triumph also flogs BMW and Ducati.....he sells a right good amount of each kind, and on his Sunday runs you are apt to see anything...I mean anything at all! I do think style wise they skew toward the sporty type.

Agree with Steve. Not sure I really see a point to the 1050 if they're doing a 765 ST3, but maybe it's not a big cost increase if the tooling is already paid for. The ST3 displacement bump may have been a later-than-expected reaction to the awesome sales numbers (Europe especially) of the FZ-09/MT-09, and the new Speed Triple was already committed.

I suspect a 765 displacement means that the Daytona is not long for the grave. It's there only sportbike and would have a unique engine (must stay 675 to compete in supersport classes). Doesn't make business sense to me. Though, I'm just an engineer so what do I know? :)

I did hear the Daytona may be on the chopping block for emissions reasons if not also that certain types are just out of style. Triumph is not the only maker in a state of flux, and I for one am flummoxed. Choice is going right out the window.
