I have a 2013 Triumph Street Triple. I very much would like to get a set of handguards to block wind - but can't seem to find any that fit the 2013+ series (I see several for the 2007-12 models). Any advice appreciated, thank you.
I asked twistedthrottle.com if they knew of any handguards that would fit my 2013 Street Triple - they responded below. Has anyone tried the Barkbusters Storm S1 or S7 on a 2013-16? Do they mount ok?
Pure speculation based on my intimacy with Street Triple bars from multiple eff-ups and changes trying to get them just right (most of which I have chronicled somewhere on this forum) I would say that if you are going to take a flier on one of these, I'd start with the M7s - the ones that bolt into the end of the bar. I'm not sure there is enough room to clamp the others onto the bar, and the bar end inserts are threaded for M6 x 1.0 bolts. Using the M7s you would still have the flexibility (with different length bolts to also stack bar end mirrors and/or sliders inside or outside the hand guards, and altering your set-up would be a simple matter of removing just 2 bolts.
I have heated grips and wear waterproof gloves when it's cold... waterproof = windproof... For a few more $ you can have heated grips, save the look of your ride and your hands will be even better off... my .02
PS - My bike came with the R&G Heated Grips and I would have gone with the OEM Triumph if I had made the choice (I'm the 2nd owner) because the Triumph grips have internal wires and the R&G do not and it annoys the hell out of my right thumb rubbing up against that all the time on the throttle side.
I decided to try the Barkbusters. I bought the Barkbusters Storm S7 Single Sided Handguard Mount Kit 6/8mm Threaded End Inserts. Installed easily and they are pretty much exactly what I wanted. I even could keep/use my throttle hold. Did a 75 mile ride today and riding at 60-80 into the wind, my fingers and hands were no longer fatigued from the constant wind buffeting.

Well - mine do, so now you have. Good for you that yours don't get fatigued JonBon3. Guess you won't be needing handguards then, so congrats. Sorry you're emoticon suggests you're "confused" by this...
It's a custom Madstad quick release touring windshield. It's the reason I bought the bike from the previous owner - probably the best accessory. Adjustable for height and angle, with quick Release so you can still ride the bike naked. However – once I tried it, I never went back to naked. It makes the ride so much more comfortable - not just in winter - but for any riding above 60mph. I used to ride Honda VFRs (750/800) with full fairings. With the Barkbusters and this touring windscreen on the Street Triple, I pretty much have the same wind protection as I had on my VFR800 with around the same horsepower (Street Triple has a few more hp but less torque) - and well over 100 pounds lighter.
Guys - I appreciate your comments. With that said, my main objective is indeed for the wind constantly pummeling on my hands when riding the 2013-16 series Street Triple over 60mph for long periods - and the hand guards do address this. It's the same reason people add windshields. I've been riding for over 30 years in both Canada and now in southern US (Texas) - and have used waterproof and insulated gloves, and heated grips for many years. They're great - but that's not why I started this thread - I wanted to find a set of hand guards that would fit on a 2013-16 series Street Triple - that's it. I found them, they address my issue, I posted some pics for anyone else who might be looking for what hand guards will fit a 2013-2016 Street Triple, and that's pretty much it.
I wonder if these would work with the stock bar end mirrors. I'd need a much longer bolt, obviously, but did the barkbusters thread into the existing handlebar insert? I sure hate the look of handguards, but riding into work is way, way easier than public transportation and I'm considering pushing my riding season further into the winter. Mid 30's might be my current gear's limit.
I uploaded the Barkbusters instructions so you can see all the parts that come in the kit. The 2013 Street Triple has 6mm thread so I just followed Option A. I have the stock mirrors, not bar ends - but I'm sure you can use bar end mirrors. The 6mm bolt was pretty long so it might work, or you can get a longer one.
I did a long ride last week with them riding 60-80mph into the wind. Not only was it significantly more comfortable, but also felt I had more control on the throttle. My opinion of course.
It’s from MadStad Engineering - quick release touring windshield. It’s probably the best accessory for me. Attaches to slots on the top of the handlebar clamp. Adjustable for height and angle. Quick Release so you can still ride the bike naked. It makes the ride so much more comfortable, especially in winter and for extended highway trips. In summer I take it off for the naked experience. In fall/winter/spring I used it most of the time.
