Good news and Bad news
The good news....popped into Total Triumph, in swindon, to enquire about the bar end mirrors availble for the Street, as i had one on order,(expected pickup date date 01/03/2008),the guy then asked my name,i gave it to him, at this point he pointed to a nice black street triple, and said thats your bike it arrived yesterday, all excited i rush over and inspect my new stead...all happy now ...the guy calls me over, and delivers me The bad news, its your P/X valve for your current bike, we can not offer you that anymore. Thus putting the whole deal in jeopardy, i explained this was the valve offered when i paid my deposit, and when i was informed of the delay in the delivery of my street triple, i asked if they would honour the P/X valve which they said they would (still have the email), as it wasnt my fault the bike had been put on back order.
So i left the showroom venting steam !!!!!....leaving the guy to discuss this issue with his franchise manager/director to see what he could do.
I've forwarded all of the email communications i have had with total triumph, and await the outcome.
I feel i may have lost out here...anyone got any advice ?

It seems to me as if this dealer is trying to extract more money from you by the back door. They can't raise the price of the bike or Triumph will get upset, so instead they are trying the reduce the value of your p/x. The net result is the same - you pay more, which is not good. They point you to a bike, tell you its yours, get you salivating and then demand more money...it's the oldest trick in the book. It's good that you didn't agree straightaway.
What happens next is up to you. It depends on how bad you want the bike and what value you attach to that desire. For my part, as much as I want the new bike, I would inform the dealer that we had a deal and if they are not prepared to honour that deal, then my business goes elsewhere. Simple. If I have to wait another 6 months so be it. Others might advise you differently. Either way, I hope it all works out for you.
Total Triumph sound like total a**holes!

When I orderd my street back in August they offered me 4k for my gixer, that was a good price so I left the bike there and then,as didn't want to be in your situation, they sold it on in 4 days! I picked mine up in October and it's been fantastic so far, but it depends on how bad YOU want your's.
I think Total Triumph were the guys selling a second hand street for more than a grand over the asking price on e-bay a couple of months ago, I would be very weary.

Tbh I think that stinks! they have you between a rock and a hard place tho cos if you don't agree then I guess you go to the back of the Q!
I would defo try and stand my ground tho if I was you, easy for me to say (the wifes was delivered back in Sept) or at an absolute minimum they should do you some sort of a deal on accessories
Would be interesting to see what they put your bike up if you still go ahead with the deal I think doggy is right about them being the outfit that put a street on ebay, smells of sharp practice to me, they don't seem to value their customers to much do they!
At the very least they should have contacted you some time ago
This is all assuming you haven't done anything to excessively devalue your bike in some way of course.

If they promised you the trade in price in writing, then that was their contract with you & they have to sell the Street3 to you for the agreed balance.
If they don't agree, tell them you are going to send the emails to Trading Standards and to Triumph and make formal complaints against them. They should back down pretty quickly.
In the meantime, you might want to call Triumph sales Dept to ask them about the situation. If you don't want to get the dealer in trouble straight away, you don't have to tell Triumph your name or who the dealer is.
Trust me, I'm a solicitor

Now those are some words you don't want to hear without knowing the context.

I should have mentioned in my first reply that I used to be a second-hand car salesman and I'm also half gypsy, but the words "trust me, I'm a pikey second-hand car dealer" would probably have caused even more mirth than "trust me, I'm a solicitor".

Solicitor/attorney is your friend when you divorce or when you close on a real estate deal. Saved me a bundle.
