tall riders check in!

just wondering if there are any taller guys on street triples. I'm 6'7", 35 inseam, 16 boot... and have had my heart set on a thruxton, but for some reason my mind is wandering this evening and the street looks **** good.

Well, you don't exactly have to be a midget to ride a Street. I'm 6'2" and do just fine.

However, your extra five inches of height could be a problem, as the difference in our heights is almost entirely leg length. The pegs are a little higher relative to seat height than I was expecting, and while I have adapted to it nicely with a 30" inseam, I have doubts that anyone with more than 32 inches would remain comfortable on it for long.

Don't mean to discourage you, but it would be very worthwhile trying to find one you could sit on and (hopefully) ride for a while before having to shell out money for one.

I'm 6'1" and the Street fits me fine. As Diego says though, 6'7" is a fair bit taller that.

You might find the rear-sets on a Thruxton make it a bit more cramped than the position on a Street. If ride position is dictating your choice a Tiger 1050 might be an option, I found it too tall for my tastes but the 1050 motor is great.

i really like the thruxton... have sat on it plenty of times...

A couple months ago i was at my local dealership and was going back and fourth between a Sprint ST and a VFR800 anniversary. Almost signed the papers for the VFR (which i should have)...

we'll see come march what i end up with.

Hey Prez, I'm just following you around, forum to forum!

Like I said in the Cafe forum, I'm 6'-7" and just bought a Thrux. The Street Triple was also high on my list. I put down a refundable deposit and when it arrived I was disappointed, but not suprised to find that the Striple didn't fit me too well. I guess I could have made it work, but it wouldn't have been comfortable for any length of time. I suppose it's all about proportions. I'm a 34" inseam, so I'm guessing you may have a tighter fit than I did.

Hey Guys, I normally hang on the T3 forum but I check in here from time to time as the Street is very appealing.

My step-son has his heart set on a Street but at 6'2" and all arms and legs, he's worried about the fit, particularly the bars. We have'nt had the opportunity to sit on or test ride one yet although our local dealer just got a demo in.

I'm guessing he's got nothing to worry about with the ergo's?

Cheers,

Roden

I expect you're right, Roden, although how he is proportioned (arms-to-legs ratio) could make a difference.

At 6'2" I have no complaint at all concerning the bars, and that's with my upper body longer than average for my height.

(Were it the other way around, meaning less upper body length but with longer legs, the riding position would require more of a crouch and eventually reach a point where it could stress my hips. But on average, 6'2" is not an unreasonable height for this bike.)
