Question 675 Street triple

As a new owner - less than 100 miles - just wanted to sound out any others on a couple of points:

seat ( standard ) : seems too soft and occasionally "bottoms out" on frame on poorer London streets. And before you ask am not a lard arse even with my rucksack ! ( 11 stone ).
Should I have gone with the gel one ?

rear shock: seems choppy at times - could this improved by changing the pre load - assuming the extensive tool kit allowed.
Any other owners experimented with this and can advise on best setting.

Otherwise carn't wait until it's run in.

Thks

11 stone = 154 lbs, for us "english" people

Your seat is TOO soft??? Might want to have that checked; never heard anyone say that about it before. Seriously, though, there is a post elsewhere in this forum describing how one member in the UK had his seat recalled early on. I forget exactly why, but I think some of them may have escaped from their maker in Italy without enough padding in them, which could cause exactly what you report. Best check with your dealer on that issue.

Likewise, I would double check tyre pressure before tinkering with suspension. It makes more difference than you might think. I found that out the hard way. And BTW, although preload adjustment is possible, Triumph do not consider it a user adjustment on either the Street or Daytona. Be safe!

Jonathan,

Let a forum native suggest the following: Why don't you just take a little bit of your time to scroll down the thread/topic list? You might find that your two questions or potential issues have already been discussed. Not necessarily resolved, but... addressed, as 'Mericans say.

Welcome here . Jamie

I had my seat replaced at my first service as it was a recall as Triumph said there wasn't enough padding!, I weight about 11st and I had no complaints in the first 500 miles. When the bike was in for the service I got them to soften the preload but they would only adjust it a small amount, TBH I don't think it made any difference, although it seems to have got better with more miles or I've just got used to it.

The rear shock will just take some getting used to. It took me a while, and maybe it has settled in a little, as it does now appear to be much better after 1000 miles.

Also, it is worth checking your tyre pressures.

I have both the Gel, and the standard seat, and personally don't like the standard seat at all. Maybe its because I am now used to the gel one, but didn't notice the problems you have mentioned on either (I am 14.5 stone).

Cheers,

Vince.
