"A very fast rolling couch." Catchy...I quite like that.

Not quite as dramatic as "world's fastest production roadster" or some of Triumph's other classic slogans, perhaps, but I think I'll suggest it to them as one that's definitely unforgettable.

Edward Turner might spin faster than a Daytona engine, however, were he to hear of it.

No, sorry, I retract the preceding post. The "very fast couch" slogan is already taken, I'm afraid. See:

Speed Triple Forum>This is wrong in so many ways..

Caution: not for the faint of heart or anyone blessed with the slightest aesthetic sensibilities.

As a new rider have you considered the Bonneville and then converting it to a Cafe Racer after you've mastered the art of riding? The upright stance might be a little more manageable for you to start with. As for dropping the bike, yes it may happen and has to most of us, but don't treat it as an inevitability. The whole goal on a bike is to keep the two wheels planted on the tarmac and your hide off of it. A used bike is a good learning tool as is something in the 250cc range. Get your endorsement and some saddle time then trade up. While a slower processes it is generally a less painful way to learn. Good luck and ride safe.

I pretty well talked my self into the ST3 and getting and older bonni to cafe over next winter or so. I love power and handling and the mountains are not far from me with lots of twisties.

To chawbecker I have had a yamaha R6, closest thing to the ST3 that Ive had, and they are not hard to learn to ride on. Im short (5'7) so the seat hight on some of the sportbikes is a little high but I like it that way. One thing to remember is that as a noob and for some highly experienced riders is that these bikes have way more capabilties than you as a rider do. The power of these these things is rediculous. 100 horse to the rear wheel of a less than 500 lb bike can be scary to new riders and how fast these motors rev and get to 100mph mark will make your butt pucker

I cant say whitch one to get for you but i started on a harly w/ about 60 hp and moved up to a buell then to an R6 but i have been riding on two wheels since I was three on my little yammy 50. In a nut shell be carefull on what ever you get I would imagine both to be alot of fun
