Question Alarm Immobiliser

I have a few questions about Triumph’s add-on alarm system. First; does this unit only sense movement or does it also have proximity sensors? Second; does anyone have a picture of the remote (I assume this alarm does not have a two-way FM remote). Third; are there better alarms on the market for the money (and would they connect to the factory plugs like the one Triumph offers)?

Hi

I don't know anything except that apparently they're a Datatool alarm: http://datatool.co.uk and that there is a bunch of threads in the other models' forums (tiger, speed, etc) about them. I believe (?) they're common to triumph's range.

Hope this gets you started.

Cool Datatool

I have the Datatool System 3 alarm om my 2004 Sprint ST.

It has an extremely efficient engine immobilizer and a motion detector which will allow 1 x nudge only then go off.
It is a very loud alarm.

It can be annoying if you try to start up without disarming first. It is also a two button remote. 1 button disengages the motion sensor the other the alarm as a whole.

It also has a service mode so you can work on the bike without it going off.

There is now a S4 version which is currently available. My remotes have the triumph emblem on them and mine was packed as a Triumph part.

Mine does NOT have proximity sensors I do not know if the S4 does or not bt you will get that off the website.

I do not think it is an FM remote but I am not a tech head.

It is a very effective alarm I do not know if it is the best value or not (I got mine for nothing).

The Datatool alarm is a simple plug and play straight into the Triumph provided socket.

DaveM and davidlee79, thank you for the info. Sorry for not showing my appreciation until now. I was unable to access the internet for a bit of time. I will look into datatool’s products. I was asking about the features due to the fact that I work in a building with no windows to see out where I park my bike. We have a high school across the street, and some kids find it amusing to “tag” other peoples personal property. So I would like an alarm system that comes with a proximity detector and a two way FM transmitter that would show me if someone was near my baby. Once again thank you gents for your input.

Sorry did not spot this topic before now but would like to add that my Street has the datatool alarm fitted and the alarm is excellent.

As Dave said, it can be very annoying if you start it without disabling the alarm but the great thing is that the settings are preset by the dealer when they fit it and can be altered to your preferences (as described in the manual).

Since the system is a datatool system it is recognised by insurers and there are optional extras such as a connection to other devices.

If you are going to use an alarm though make sure you consider a charder like the Optimate one to keep the battery in tip top condition. Optimate chargers are around £50 and come with a permanent adapter/connector to fit to the bike plus croc clips for charging your car so all your vehicles will benefit from this accessory.
