Second Thoughts

500 kilometers later: All reports, be they from relatives, friends or neighbours, tend to tell me that these TOR pipes are LOUD.

And I must admit that while being "music to my ears" , they are MUCH LOUDER than I anticipated.

So, after having publicly advocated those pipes, my disclaimer is: in case of doubt, please stick to the standard ones

Over a period of time and numerous blasts down the road you'll hardly notice the sound. And if others still complain, buy them ear plugs!

The standard exhaust has a truly amazing sound on its own. I considered ordering the TORS with the bike, but decided to wait til I heard the stock system. Glad I did. That's one of the advantages of an engine that doesn't have a lot of clatter of its own...they can put the permissible decibels to better use, and I can put my accessory budget to better use in the near term.

I bought the TOR exhaust a couple weeks ago and yea they are loud, but only under certain conditions. Just tooling around below 4,000 rpm, they seem about the same as stock. At idle they are the same as stock, but if your wacking the throttle or above 5,000 they sing.
Only time I don't like the noise, is on overrun or as you backing off the throttle coming to a stop. The Popping that is normal with Speedy gets a lot more aggressive and attention, but the really great thing about them is the few extra pony's with the TOR tune.
Seems to start better too.
So, that leads up to a question. If I decided later to go back to stock, will the bike run OK with the stock exhaust and TOR tune?

Why would you want to go back to stock cans?

Probably not. The TOR tune with the stock cans will tend choke the engine, at least below 5000 rpm's. Jamie
