Talking Performance Bikes (Dec 07) article

Hi all,

Thought you may be interested in the December edition of PB. They tested the Street triple round the Nurburgring Nordschleife. They have a table of fastest bikes and it was quicker than a speed triple! how mad is that!

Overall it is currently in 16th position getting round it in 7m 53.8 (87.7mph), the Speed Triple was down in 19th place in 7m 57.5 @ 87 mph, how good is that???

It only lapped .5 mph slower than a Suzuki GSXR600 (7m 51.2 @ 88.2 mph), which is a honed track tool, I was very impressed considering it is a true naked street fighter!

Just for the record the Yamaha R1 was first, in 7m 28.8 @ 92.6mph.

Cheers. Greg

That is very cool. Looking forward to a few mags posting their "bike of the year" and my suspition is that the Street Triple will take all the prizes.

Let's see if we can hook up once I've gotten the first service/oil change out the way!

Sounds great Jon, I have been a bit lazy and need to get out on the bike, covered just over 200 miles in one week, pretty poor! Hope to do better next week.

If it takes bike of the year, then Triumph have done very well in the international accolades lately. Not too shabby for what amounts to a bit player by volume of bikes sold every year.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Even if it doesn't take bike of the year its received enough accolades to get some new folks buying into the marque. With the rain we had earlier today here in the Puget Sound I hope my roulette green Trip comes with water wings. We're going to need them this winter.
