US Buyers: What's The Latest Word?
I put in a voicemail and email to the lady at Triumph USA who sent me my original confirmation message, asking if there was any further information on expected delivery dates for US buyers. I know the Euro folks are getting theirs, but I've also read that some US buyers are being pushed back from Oct to Nov! (Also read that Triumph are diverting US-bound bikes to Europe because of the backlog! Grrrr.)
I think the annual dealers' meeting was this weekend, so perhaps that explains her non-responsiveness.
Anyway, any of you US people have fresh information beyond that confirmation email when you first placed your reservation?

Don't know where you read those things, but there's been no "latest word" so far as I know. The e-mail we all got from Tia at TMA was a stock letter that had a lot of wiggle room built in.
Those who ordered very early in July were told October, those of us who ordered a little later were told October but maybe later, those who ordered later than that were quoted November, etc. Unlike previous reservation system introductions, few if any of us in the States received any information on our place in line.
Before we get too paranoid about someone else getting "our" bikes, let's remember that the final folks who ordered in Europe before the deadline were being told February or March for theirs.
There's a little over three weeks yet to go in October, so no point chewing our nails just yet.

Not sure about delivery. My local dealer isn't even going to order any Street Triples without a $500 deposit on hand. He still has a Speed Triple from well over a year ago, and a couple of Super Dukes. All nice bikes. But nakeds don't sell around here.

Now, wait a minute. I ordered mine on the last afternoon of the last day (Saturday, September 29), and Tia immediately wrote me a very personal letter letting me know that she was PLEASED to confirm that my Jet Black Street Triple (see, she even knew the color! ) was scheduled to arrive here sometime in January, 2008.
Seriously, I'm not sure I wouldn't mind a March delivery at this point, unless our winter this year is like last year's -- it was so mild that I never had to stop riding..
Of course, what I'd really prefer is that Tia call me this week and let me know that there was a mix-up, and that the bike is due in three days and that, yes, the color-matched fly screen is included in the price for those smart enough to pre-order.

Oh TIA! Both "very personal" and "pleased to confirm". And the rest left to one's imagination. Mine. Fusion white skin. Jet black hair. Roulette green eyes.
Ti amo TIA. Jamie

Tia? Tia? I know you're lurking out there. I didn't realize you were so popular! It's only my kind soul that keeps me from posting pictures to encourage these people...
Hope y'all are doing well back in ATL.
Cheers

Well, excuuuuuuuse me.

I'm not paranoid, I only asked if anyone in the US had some fresh information from Triumph. I'm on the fence between three bikes, the Street3 being one of them. With only 2-3 weeks to the original mushy delivery timeframe, I'd expect that Triumph USA will at least know now if they're going to push that date back a month or two. I'm seeing terrific deals on the other two bikes slipping away while I wait for the Street3.

i had heard from some Brits that their delivery dates were getting pushed back from october to february. needless to say, i panicked, scrambled to my computer and shot an urgent email off to Tia post-haste. here's what she had to say...
"This person did not speak to anyone at Triumph America today (Oct. 3rd) as we literally JUST opened at 8:30am(EST). The information he is providing is specific to his bike in his country. Please know that the email confirmation you received from me is specific to YOUR bike here in the US. I can not verify what other countries are promising for delivery because there are different circumstances for each region.
Also know that there are a specific number of bikes built each month. Therefore, not everyone will have the same delivery month promised. Those who placed their deposit early will have an October delivery date. Some will have November, December or even January. This is VERY specific to each deposit. I’ve not sent out a February delivery date to anyone in the US.
If you need further information, you may call customer service at 678-854-2010."

Be patient. We'll be swimming in them by next summer, unless they all go to Europe. Very anticipated new bike. All the reviews are hot. Great marketing job by Triumph.

"Great Marketing Job by Triumph" ?????? Say What????
I bought a different bike last week because I couldn't test ride a Street Trip (the dealers don't have any) and because it will be so long to delivery. The dealer actually laughed when I asked for a delivery date.
I'll be looking for a Street next fall when there are plenty around - providing I don't decide to keep my new bike longer. I can't see where that helps Triumph.
Seems to me when you announce a new bike and then release them for magazine tests they should be available to the public in some reasonable volume. The feeling I got from the whole trying to buy a Street Trip experience was frustration and a sense that Triumph wasn't up to making the bikes they design. It just makes the factory seem small and unorganized. At least it points to a weak marketing research department.
Remember when Ducati solicits pre-orders it in the pre-production cycle and helps them determine production numbers for very short run high end models. The Street is a price point (albeit by all acounts a great one) bike with a potentially very large volume (by Triumph standards) of production.
Anyway JMHO - I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade but I really think however wonderful the bike may be Triumph has screwed up the intro and delivery timing of this model. Not "brilliant marketing" by any stretch.
