Are we running out of things to say?

I keep flicking between this forum and the 675net. Its like waiting in a Q to see a band, we can talk about how cold it is, when the show starts and what it might be like when we get in.............otherwise Im off to the pub and come back when the Qs a bit shorter or the support act has come on...................anyone for a pint ???

Do yourself a favour and lust no more ! Two mates have owned them, lovely bike but loads of recalls for faults and service levels and parts are awful to obtain. Even Ducati challenge them for service these days ! One of my mates bought a Bandit 1250 and the other a GSXR750 after a year of ownership.

Maybe WE are running out of things to say. But Triumph is not. Triumph is realizing (?) that "our" 675 Street Triple might lure prospects at the expense of the 1050 Speed Triple, the latter, contrary to the former, posing no availability problems in continental Europe.

Triumph's anwser? Visually differentiating the Speed from the Street, hence reversing the Street's design/marketing edict to make it look like... a Speed. Ha! ha! ha!

So, for the 2008 model year, the Speed gets new, neat-looking wheels... a new, leaner rear lamp/plate bracket asssembly (at long last!)... new, radial brake calipers... a new Magura-made handlebar and... new paint finishes, including what looks like a "redder-than-red" hue.

It'll be on display at the Paris Motorcycle show. I'll go there next Tuesday and will keep you all posted. Regards to all. Jamie

We'll look forward to your report, Jamie. Ought to be interesting.

To me, it looks less as if Triumph's reversing the idea of making the Street look like the Triple, and more as if they're saying if you want to keep buying something with that look, it'll now have to be the Street.

If too many folks get that message, who knows how long it'll be before they get caught up building the Streets!

I cant help thinking back to the halycon days of the British Bike industry when I read things like that !!

Thats where Triumph and Norton went wrong all those years ago.......they built an 850 and a 750.........nothing smaller.......ooooh look over their some small capacity Chinese bikes.........nah they are rubbish, never catch on. Remind you of anything ???

The difference with modern Triumph is that they are building a class leader in every bike they're currently making. They didn't do that before. The old Triumph were building out dated, out classed bikes.
I'm not saying we should dismiss the Chinese but they are just starting to compete in the small classes. The only advantage they have is price. The quality is crap at the moment.

With so few riders on the Street Triple there isn't much to say. We are all just sitting around spinning our imaginary wheels as it were. The weather is nasty enough here in the Pac NW that I can't even ride the bikes I own, much less ride a bike I have yet to receive. The dealer has yet to get a demo that I know of. I lurk in the shadows hoping to read some feedback from those lucky folks that have taken delivery thus far. They seem to be fairly silent at times. Must be busy out there riding.
