I guess the Street Triple will create a new trend in the motorcycle world.

Like the last poster I hardly use the true power of a litre bike, its mainly about the low speed grunt in higher gears anyway. Using a litre bike to the full in the UK is not an option unless you like hospital or prison food. Although I have had friends on smaller bikes moaning about having to drop a couple of cogs to keep up during overtakes, in reality they have never had a problem keeping up with me.
I did try a Fazer 600 prior to buying the 1000, at that time it seemed that the 600 had enough power but no surplus at all, especially with a pillion. Coupled with the overall budget nature, it encouraged me to be greedy and want a bit more. The 1000 was a rocket ship and it never felt like I was using it properly, same with all the bikes except the VFR800 which had the right balance of power to fun ratio in the engine department but I hated the rest of it and sold it after 6 months.
The light weight of the Striple and a grunty motor with good low rev torque and a decent top end should guarantee a bit of fun. Allowing the engine to be used properly and unleashing the gorgeous triple wail and airbox rasp. Pillions are no longer an issue and my riding is less than 300 miles in a trip on a sunny Sunday. The low seat height stops me worrying about 25% Lake District passes with hairpin bends and adverse cambers

and the light weight guarantees easy handling compared to the weight of something like a Fazer.
