Hi-soon to be new Street triple owner.

Hi All,

signed on the dotted about 2 weeks ago now. Black ST, screen, fairing, hugger and Gel seat.

No test ride needed, just sat on it and thought it fitted like a glove. Dead light, looked nice and great price. What more can you ask. All ready know that triumph wouldn't dare produce another dodo such as the previous incarnation and everyone i know raves about the Daytona 675.

Im not new to Triumph as I owned the 955i Speed triple in Roulette green back in 2001. Never really got on with that bike TBH, big heavy thing, no steering lock and hard suspension. I had it modified by Maxton which helped, but it was still slow to turn which made tight backroads a bit of an effort. Never gave me any problems except for indicator lenses falling off.

I am trading in my KTM 950SM that I have had for two years now. I fancy a change, want a lighter bike, lower seat height (even the Speed triple had me on tip toes so you can imagine the fun that the SM is), something fun, easy to ride but with a bit of a kick when the mood takes and looks nice. Could have had anything as price is not really an issue (unless it goes over 10K), the ST looks like it will do the trick. Looking forward to delivery in October and will probably end up with the Arrow underseat cans.

Previous bikes.....from my bike re-birth (had several previously), VFR800, BMW GS1100, Triumph 955i Speed Triple, Fazer 1000 and KTM 950SM.

Like you the Street Triple appeals to me due to its light weight and low seat height. The power to weight ratio isn't bad either. I put money down on mine a few weeks back and am looking forward to getting it on the road. It should be nimble around town and a hoot on the back roads.

Good choice! I find it pretty interesting that you're going from liter bikes to smaller engine displacement like the 675. I havent seen many people do that, usualy its the other way around.
I guess the Street Triple will create a new trend in the motorcycle world.

That's what I'm doing...I went up to a 955 sprint...now coming back down to the 675. the smaller engine size is much more manageble, more fun, lighter, and still has plenty of go. I get more giggles from diving into a series of low speed corners, than flattening my eyeballs from 20mph to the speed limit and then cutting the throttle just when it starts to get good. I'd rather be BTTW all the time.

Like the last poster I hardly use the true power of a litre bike, its mainly about the low speed grunt in higher gears anyway. Using a litre bike to the full in the UK is not an option unless you like hospital or prison food. Although I have had friends on smaller bikes moaning about having to drop a couple of cogs to keep up during overtakes, in reality they have never had a problem keeping up with me.

I did try a Fazer 600 prior to buying the 1000, at that time it seemed that the 600 had enough power but no surplus at all, especially with a pillion. Coupled with the overall budget nature, it encouraged me to be greedy and want a bit more. The 1000 was a rocket ship and it never felt like I was using it properly, same with all the bikes except the VFR800 which had the right balance of power to fun ratio in the engine department but I hated the rest of it and sold it after 6 months.

The light weight of the Striple and a grunty motor with good low rev torque and a decent top end should guarantee a bit of fun. Allowing the engine to be used properly and unleashing the gorgeous triple wail and airbox rasp. Pillions are no longer an issue and my riding is less than 300 miles in a trip on a sunny Sunday. The low seat height stops me worrying about 25% Lake District passes with hairpin bends and adverse cambers and the light weight guarantees easy handling compared to the weight of something like a Fazer.

Heck, I went from a Rocket to the 675.
