Best Wet Weather Riding Jacket on Streety

Everyone

Well, my trusty Hi Viz First Gear Kilimanjaro (two years old and many washings) has given up on me and is leaking mainly in the slevee area. I have tried the Nikwax waterproofing but not good enough.

I ride my Streety in the Pacific Northwest - the land of rain, wind and cold just like the UK

So, please let me know what you guys and gals would recommend as a great overall wet weather jacket. I do use a First Gear Warm and Safe liner/glove combo - so the jacket should have the waterproof liner built into the outer layer.

I have a REV'IT Horizon jacket and I have been pleased with its performance. Granted I live on the east coast and we dont get as much rain as you do. I have been caught out in a handful of downpours and everytime I have stayed dry. The Horizon has the waterproofing integrated into the outer shell but also comes with a removable thermal liner.

I have a "dane" goretex jacket that has been serving me for five years and two wet winters. I also bought the pants a year ago. I use a gerbing heated liner under it an today at 1celcius and in the rain I was hot and bone dry. I sowed on some fleece on rhe inner jacket shoulders as an extra protection against the wind.

It might be sold mostly in the netherlands though. high quality. washed it twice with nickwax (double treatment, wash and protection) one about a month ago. still waterproof

that said, i'll prolly want a dainese for my next jacket. but the dane seems to have some years left...

Thanks guys

The Rev'it! Horizon is on my short list as it seems to be what I need as I would be pulling the liner and using my electric gear.

I am also looking at:

ICON Patrol jacket

Aerostich Darien

Anything Dainese as you will look cool at the stop lights

I've not been impressed with build quality on some icon stuff. It all looks good which always tempts me, but then I think of that $500 helmet I bought that is falling apart after about 2 years of occasional use...

Same here. I'm running the Triumph Acton2 jacket and pants along with Gerbing's heated liners and Tourmaster boots and am perfectly happy with them. Good clothing at a reasonable price.

Same recommendation on T675. Bought the Macna Oasis back in June for wet weather riding and it's served me well. Fully waterproof zip-in internal rain liner and a "water resistent" exerior jacket.

All great recommendations lads - keep them coming as I am sure we can all benefit

Just as a word of advice to you guys - don't wash your jackets at home. Use the large washers at the laundrymat. I think that's what did in my Kilimanjaro.

Next jacket will just get a sponge bath at best.

If it is for daily commuting I highly recommend the Roadcrafter gear. Although I wear the full Roadcrafter Lite suit - they do make jackets and pants that are awesome. I've ridden through some of the worst storms - constant driving rain - with not a single leak or issue with getting one drop wet. The pooling in the crotch issue you hear people speak about seems confined to the older original Roadcrafter suits.

I also came off in a high-side wearing the Roadcrafter and the gear held up really well - no issues with the abrasion resistance, and tons of user positionable padding options.

I'd suggest considering the suit if you are commuting - there is nothing like getting to work and not having to walk around all day in Kevlar jeans that, no matter how good they are, look like Kevlar jeans! Or if you are like me and wear a business suit - nothing like getting the bike gear off in under 20 seconds and being dressed for work!

I am currently using a cheap (& nasty) Bilt waterproof jacket that works really well so far this winter, riding my Tmax scooter. The inner removeable liner is pretty crappy with sleeves the length of a gorilla's arms, but the outer jacket is rubberised material and is waterproof in a downpour.
