Anybody doing super-high mileage?

I'm lusting after a 2013 STR to replace my faithful SV650, but I run a lot of miles per year (125,000kms over the 4 1/2 yrs I've owned the bike), and I wonder how the STR will withstand that kind of use. Rain, shine; winter and summer; commuting, day-trips, scratching, touring, track days... and it lives outside, under a cover (no garage) all year.

Anybody running huge miles on their STR? Any problems (aside from the R/R recall, which I'm aware of)? Does the finish withstand winter grime OK, or do fasteners and other bits start getting pretty 'flossed up' and/or rusted? Any other out-of-the-ordinary issues I should consider?

Thanks for the input... I've been lurking a while on here, trying to get a feel for the bike, and perhaps will be joining you in the joys of ownership soon.

My Streety gets ridden year round here in the PNW just south of you in the other Vancouver. The bike has held up great with no finish issues or wear and tear problems.

Remember, these bike were designed in England to take those wonderful English summers

The materials and fixings are pretty good-on the UK forum there is a thread on corrosion which has some years of postings:
http://www.street-triple.co.uk/index...ic,3746.0.html
Read it and see the views of UK owners.
Some of them absolute detail fanatics -as on any forum a self selected sample of those who are sufficiently troubled to post.
My view is the Striple is as good as or better than the field.

My only concern would be theft.

heh, heh, true that! not many folks gonna steal a well-worn SV, and the STR is a different proposition! to be clear, the bike lives on a pad out back of the house, not on the street in front, so despite the lack of a garage, there is a modicum of security.

thanks for the other inputs so far... i'll surf the UK site, tks for the link. would be great to hear from others.

Any modern motorcycle that has its scheduled maintenance kept up to date on time and properly accomplished should take you over 100,000 miles easy.

There is a guy on the Twins forum who has put 120,000 + miles on his bonneville with nothing more than scheduled maintenance and a chain/sprocket swap every 20K miles or so and still going strong.

I've got 86,000 K's in just over two years on my street triple.

There are riders who have hit 100,000 on 675.net, I believe.

If you get one, hit me up and we'll run the Sea to Sky. This bike was made for that highway...
