Question Trip computer

Hi there,

New Striple owner here I have an 08 Street Triple I picked up last weekend. I'm trying to figure out the trip computer but the manual doesn't make much sense to me

What I'd like to do is be able to reset the trip computers so I can use both trips like so:
1 - To track my commuting (in terms of MPG, miles, etc)
2 - To track the fun riding (in terms of Speed, MPG, miles, etc)

How do you manage your trip computers? Suggestions on how to accomplish this much appreciated

Also, here she is if anyone wants a wee swatch: http://i.imgur.com/tRhVo.jpg

I dont believe you can do that. both computers run at the same time. you could track your averages say monthly on trip 1 and then weekly on trip 2. the way you would do that is to reset trip 1 the first of each month and reset trip 2 every sunday for instance. but to my knowledge you cant bring up trip 1 while commuting then bring up trip 2 (and stop recording trip 1) for more spirited riding and visa versa. I may be wrong but thats muy understanding of it.

you could use the gps on your phone in combination with an app to track mileage, it'snot possible via the tipr computer

I use my trip 1 as a fuel gauge and my trip 2 to measure my distance on a ride since most weekend trips are multiple tanks worth.

It only shows on startup. What use is it really while riding though?

Ummm... that's what the two trips are for.

I do think it is odd that you can't scroll to it between trip one and two, but you don't really need it either.

You remember the full odometer mileage and add about 100 and keep that number in head? That seems quite difficult when you can just reset one of the trips to zero when getting gas. My trip 1 is always what I have showing on my 2012 and when I break 100mi I start thinking of getting gas. Light comes on around 110-120 finally after breaking 3k miles. Before then I would only get around 90 before gas light came on...
