Thruxton to a Street Triple R

I had a Bonneville before my street triple.

It was a great bike. Twin cylinder torque is a lovely thing, and it was a very relaxing bike to ride.
I "thruxtonised" it so it looked like a cafe racer. The thruxton/Bonnie could hold her own against most others in the twisties, but I did have some quite lurid slides when pushing her hard.

I was happy, but then I made the mistake of riding a demo street triple at the local bike shop while buying some oil one saturday.

Oh boy! One ride was enough! I had to have it...

Being a bit short of funds, I traded the Bonnie in on the street triple.

86,000 K's and two years later I have no regrets. the street triple is an incredible machine, especially with a few little mods...

However, if I could do it all over again, I would keep the Bonneville and have the street triple as a second bike.

In my mind, that would be the perfect match.

Easy riding on the bonnie, flat out scratchin' on the street triple.

I would love to own a thruxton myself though. I had my chance to get one when I chose to buy my Street triple...

When I pay off my car, I may just get a Street Triple. I hope the are still kick ass in 2 more years from now.

Hey it's just what style of bike you like, i love my bonnie caf'e racer.ok its not silky smooth or realy rapid,(quick enough for me) but i can't get enough of the old 60's look. and as for getting better with the next bike you try, i have a mate who started on a street tripple ,then moved up to an all singing and dancing speed tripple r, loved that for 12 months, has now gone Italian and got the ultimate (acording to him ) Aprillia tuono . it' got to be said it is the dogs nuts, but hey i'm happy with my bonnie caf'e racer...

Keep the thruxton and add the triple. You'll live oh so happily ever after.
