I got a great deal on this exhaust, but it has a dent on the tip. Anyone know if this is repairable and how to go about it? The black shell is a coating of some sort, and don't want to damage it. I can live with it as is, and ready to install it. Great postings on the forum and how to, thank you all for that!!
The local car body repair shop should be able to gently tap it back to shape. Remember to have the engine remapped, maybe try the Arrow 3-1 tune with a K&N air filter. Drill a bunch of extra holes in the plastic air intake under the headlights to let in more air at high rpm. Use ear plugs to protect your hearing if it is fairly loud. - Wayne
A follow up, I took the header to the local Midas (known for Auto mufflers, primarily) and they cut the header, removed a bracket, and ground the burs for $20, well worth the money. They also have a tool called an muffler expander (looked like a tip of a baseball bat), that did the trick and fixed the dented tip.
When I came around to re-installing the header, i checked the gaskets and notice only one header had a gasket. It seemed strange that the factory would only install 1 gasket. Was wondering if anyone notice this when they removed their header? Also, anyone know where to buy replacement gaskets?
Did you check the header and the head for the gaskets? Been a while since I swapped mine, but I can't imagine someone wouldn't noticed the massive exhaust leaks that I'm pretty sure would have been present.
